Very disappointed when my husband and I visited Cafe Cuil on Sunday 30th March at 1.20pm only to be offered coffee to take away. No food was available and the cafe was fully booked. We had been given a gift voucher and as we live in Fife, I emailed Cafe Coul on the 1st March to request a booking for the 30th March. The reply indicated that booking was only possible for groups of 6 or more. We arrived at the cafe at 12.20pm and there was a very long queue. After waiting for 10 minutes, the queue had not moved and no-one from the cafe had explained the delay. We decided to come back later. We arrived back at 1.20pm. We waited for another 10 minutes and then a member of staff explained that all they could offer was take away coffee. We said we were willing to wait, but this made no difference. This policy of not allowing groups of less than 6 to book a table is discriminatory especially on special occasions like Mothers' Day. So beware anyone intending to visit the cafe on Easter Sunday - a similar situation may well occur and unless you are in a group of 6 or more you will be disappointed. No explanation was given regarding the failure to offer take away food ...... which is boldly advertised. In fairness the member of staff was polite and provided a monetary refund for the voucher when this was requested. It would however have been greatly appreciated if the saturation of bookings and the lack of take away food had been explained when we arrived initially at 12.20pm. Update: I would like to thank the Cafe Cuil owners very much for getting in touch with me and sending me a new gift card as well as reimbursing the original voucher. I look forward to visiting Cafe Cuil again and enjoying a more...

After visiting the Fairy Pools, my wife and I headed to Tallisker to do a distillery tour. After checking in, we asked for lunch recommendations and Cafe Cuil was recommended over Three Chimneys that's on site. Although it's a 5 min drive from the distillery and we'd have to give up our perfect parking spot right outside the distillery entrance, Cafe Cuil was so highly recommended, we decided to check it out. Well, both my wife and I whole heartedly agree, it was our best meal and restaurant experience In Scotland since arriving 10 days earlier.

When we arrived at Cafe Cuil, Katherine greated us and took us to our table. She was extremely kind, helpful and engaging. Next up, our server, Skye (and yes, that's her real name), she was a true gem. Upon our request, she recommended both of our meals and drinks. I had the Lochalsh Beef Brisket and my wife had the Sweet Corn and Onion Fritters. We both had the Cuil-Aid (Rhubarb and Rose) to drink. All three were unique and over the top delicious. We both highly recommended everything we had.

On our way out, we pretty well bought one of everything in their pastries, cakes and deserts case; they all looked too good to leave behind 🫣

Cafe Cuil is now on our list of favorite places to eat - in the world. Well done team at...

Cafe Cùil is an absolute gem on the Isle of Skye. The setting is beautiful and the food is just incredible. I had the beef brisket, mozzarella, mustard, and pickle toastie—it was packed with flavour and perfectly balanced. My partner went for the sweetcorn fritters with spring onion, Scottish labneh, fried egg and chili oil which was beyond wonderful. Oh and how could I forget the excellent mac and cheese bites?!

The staff were so helpful and incredibly friendly, making us feel really welcome from the moment we walked in. You can tell they genuinely care about what they do, from the quality of the food to the little details that make the place feel special.

We were absolutely stuffed after our meal, but the cakes looked too good to resist, so we took some away with us for later—and they did not disappoint!

The small shop inside was also a lovely surprise, full of locally sourced art, pottery, and books.

This place is a must-visit, an absolute credit to the Island, the wonderful owner and their excellent staff. We’ll definitely be back!

On a dull, wet and windy day, we arrived at Café Cùil with great expectations, having read some good reviews about this place. Well, I'm delighted to say that we weren't disappointed. We were served by friendly staff, and were made to feel very welcome. My son had the beef brisket toastie, which he assured me was delicious. My wife chose the Scottish smoked mackerel. She's the real foodie in our family, and declared it was the best smoked mackerel she'd ever eaten. Every Sunday at home, I make scotch pancakes for the family, served with maple syrup, crunchy peanut butter and bacon. So my daughter and I plumped for the Café Cùil Scotch pancakes with rhubarb, gingernut crumble & mascarpone. Wow! These ingredients together are just a brilliant combo, so that was another hit. At this point, we should have just paid the bill and walked, but the blood orange cheesecake looked so enticing, we decided to try that, too. For me that blood orange cheesecake was absolutely knockout, and was the star of the show! A great experience; thank you for looking after us and we hope to be back again soon.
