Visited Wigton as its always somewhere we've wanted to visit. Found the place a bit over hyped, some really good book shops, well the ones that were open looked good, but there not a lot more here. The only saving grace was this place. Not a big cafe but a very good selection of cakes, we had the Ecclefechan tart and the caramel apple crumble. The tart was the first time I've had a local produced version of this and it was excelent, really fruity. The scoffer of the apple crumble also reported that it was very nice, withplenty of fruit in it. Judging by other dishes other people were having, their food looked of equal quality. The staff were friendly and efficient, we would definately go back.

Dropped in for a drink and cake late on a Saturday afternoon. It was really nice to find somewhere open at this time of day as quite often most cafes in D&G close 3.30-4pm even in the summer. The staff were very helpful in describing all the lovely cakes on display. We chose to have warm Ecclefechan tart, one with cream and one with ice cream. It was absolutely delicious and went well with the pot of tea and latte. It's a really nice little cafe with helpful and friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Beautiful little coffee shop. Greeted on entry by a friendly chap, served quickly. Had the special of the day which was broccoli soup and crusty bread. Definitely hit the spot! Delicious! Unfortunately the coffee machine had broken down, and this was explained straight away. No bother, plenty of other drinks on offer. Place tastefully decorated and very clean. Reasonably priced and excellent service. Toilet facilities also very clean. Smashing little place, thank you x

My husband and I dine at cafe Rendezvous on a weekly basis. It is a small cafe, but generally has an extensive menu, and a specials board which changes every week. We have rarely had a bad meal, apart from one occasion when I had a beef stroganoff which tasted very nice but the beef was slightly chewy, when I was asked by the waitress if everything was alright, I told her about the beef and the lovely lady chef/owner, came and apologised most profusely and refused to charge us for the meal, (even though my husband had eaten every morcel that was left on my plate), she also got rid of the remaining stroganoff and took it off the menu.We have been on numerous occasions since and the food has been fabulous. We are always warmly greeted by all the delightful, hard working staff. The prices are also very reasonable and the freshly made home baking is delicious. The cafe Rendezvous is always busy, which...

We would have liked to have eaten lunch here (Readinglasses was closed) but they don't allow dogs. The café did seem a bit 'squeezed in' which may be the reason. The food looked very nice and we subsequently returned to take-away some of their scrumptious looking cake, which didn't disappoint. The Orange and Almond gluten-free 'cake' we had was head and shoulders the best we had all week. I say 'cake' because it was moist enough to be a pudding. No doubt we'll go back to takeaway some more of their confectionery when we return to D&G next year. As a footnote, it looks a lot better on the inside as the photograph would suggest - even if they don't...
