Unable to get in anywhere else this evening, both my wife and I came across this place via Google and TripAdvisor practically at the same time. So we had to book. Table for two at 1930 duly booked we headed over from Spean Bridge to the restaurant. A large carpark out front and a cosy entrance awaited. After a short wait to get the busy waiters attention we were temperature checked and seated. Drinks of water and a cobra each were ordered and the experience began in earnest. I started with the special starter of the day of lamb samosa and Johanna had dahl chatt which she said were the best she'd had . Mains were chicken tikka byriani with raita to accompany and it was delicious. Light, well cooked, spicy but not overwhelming and fresh. Garlic bread was almost too good to eat being the right combination of as avoury bready crunchy flavour. I'm salivating again writing this review! To finish, and I didn't finish my mains and have some left over here in my room, we shared a bread pudding. God if I could of eaten that all to myself I would've, but alas I'm small of stomach and big of eyes 🙂 It was the best bread and butter pudding I've ever had, the wife concurs. So finally to the details. Service was excellent although a little slow between courses and the waiters were pleasant and attentive despite being clearly busy. Highly...
Read moreTraveling with my family we have found it difficult to find a restaurant in the area that can satisfy our palettes. Thank goodness we stumbled across Emily's Byre. One of the most charming establishments we have ever visited, the only thing more impressive than the numerous types of food choices available, we're the rich flavors we enjoyed, each cooked to perfection and accompanied by a truly outstanding level of service. I had the Scottish Stew (Scottish), my wife and our youngest son had hamburgers with fries (American), and my eldest son enjoyed an Chicken Biryani (Indian). My stew was extremely flavorful and well-balanced and the beef exceptional tender. Each dish was cooked to order. No next day reheating of items here, as no items were dry or over-cooked. Not only was the Chicken Biryani and Scottish Stew outstanding, but even the burgers were exceptional. I savored a fine Scottish Scotch Whiskey following my outstanding stew. I cannot recommend Emily's Byre enough. It is rare that I am so pleased, but even more so when my family agrees. I strongly recommend Emily's Byre for anyone...
Read moreA lovely little restaurant in Inveraray. We were exploring the countryside there and we came across this restaurant. We were hungry, it was lunch time and we thought we will stop here for lunch. We were expecting Scottish cuisine, but when we saw the menu we were surprised to see Indian food on the menu. We ordered a veg kofta curry, a chicken tikka, tomato shorba and a local beer. The food was amazing. We were surprised that the Indian food was so good at this place. At the end of the meal, we were stuffed ! The staff were very friendly and the service was quick. There was no outdoor seating that i noticed, but the indoor seating were plenty and cozy. The restaurant is part of the Rokeby manor. So if you are staying there, you can pop on over to the restaurant for a bite or a pint and have it charged to your room. Also, looks like lunch time is around when one checks into the manor. We had a number of visitors checking in at the time we were finishing up our lunch. Overall, a definite good stop for a meal when in that area, maybe after a nice long morning hike. The food, then, will be...
