Absolutely loved the warm and friendly ambience, lively Latin-vibe playlist, and chilled white artisanal wine in Eviedale's pizza bistro last Saturday night. Great start to our Orkney holiday! Stayed at Eviedale's 'The Lodge', and how fab to arrive tired off the Scrabster-Stromness ferry to such a quality meal out, just a few steps from our cosy cottage! Watching chefs at work at the woodfired pizza oven was a treat in itself. Meat Feast and La Reine sourdough pizzas were superb, with really fresh Greek salad to share, and both ice cream desserts also delicious. Partner's banoffee sundae disappeared so fast I might actually have dreamt it. During our stay, we also devoured a lot of Eviedale's pastries - croissants, custard and almond Danishes, cinnamon swirls, Cruffins - as well as their mighty sourdough bread. We don't use the words 'best ever' lightly, their baking really is that good. Highly recommend it all, including the great value 'cook at home' pizzas we tried midweek too. Booking essential for bistro - the high stools table was a cool spot to enjoy all the sights, sounds and smells from. Thank you Ian and Philippa for such a memorable eating out - and eating pastries everywhere! - experience....
Read moreThe most wonderful resturant on mainland Orkney. We found the resturant online. We drove to place a take-out order. The atmosphere is friendly and cozy. They were quite busy, but, were able to add our menu order to the cooks queue. The pizzas were filled with flavor. I have been fantasizing about my pizza ever since. I have never experienced a sourdough pizza crust before; I am now quite spoiled and will be searching for them when I travel. I am looking forward to my return to Orkney to visit the resturant again and check out their bakery. To the owners and staff: Thank you so much for providing us with such a wonderful meal and the best take-out experience I have ever...
Read moreI had a lovely 8 days here! This is just my sort of site, got all the amenities you need, all clean and tidy and very nice. This could easily be included in Dixie Wills excellent book "Tiny Campsites" There are 2 areas, the area nearest to the showers and toilets is very sheltered but has no sea view. The area second area has a stunning view of the sea and across to Rousay but is a little less sheltered. The owners are super friendly and helpful and the onsite Cafe was great. Really good food and very reasonable. Highly recommend the bread. If you are looking for a really nice quiet site as a base for exploring the...
