Came here today for lunch, for the first time in a while. As one would expect at 1pm on a Thursday, the place was very quiet, with only 2 or 3 other tables seated the whole time we were in. It also seemed well staffed, if not overstaffed, as 3 different waiters took our orders. So I can only assume that kitchen issues were to blame for the very long wait on everything. Most places could've served a starter by the time our drinks arrived, and I was losing my appetite by the time the mains got out. The time taken for our desserts to be served was also unacceptable in my eyes, as only one of the 3 required any cooking. Now I understand that establishments can run into unpreventable problems, and I'm not usually one to make a fuss or complain, but the fact that none of the waiters apologised or even acknowledged the fact that we'd experienced such long waits was irritating - even McDonald's do that. On the plus side, the food was definitely a saving grace. Both courses I had were delicious and very well presented, and I appreciate the flavour combinations that make some of the dishes really stand out above run-of-the-mill pub grub. So now I'm in 2 minds about the Foxton. As much as I enjoyed the food and would like to try more of it, I couldn't tolerate such service if it were a regular occurrence. If it's that slow in the middle of a weekday, how much worse is it during, say, a dinner service? I'm willing to give the Foxton the benefit of the doubt that this was a one-off problem, but the lack of acknowledgement doesn't exactly fill me with confidence. I will probably return, but not if I need to be anywhere...
Read moreMy wife and I recently had dinner at Foxtons Bar & Grill and were pleasantly surprised, although there are a few areas that could use improvement.
Upon arrival, we were seated in a section where the lighting was quite dim, making it difficult to read the menu. This issue was compounded by the menu's font color, which is hard to read in low light conditions. A brighter seating area or improved menu readability would greatly enhance the dining experience.
On a positive note, our waitress, Paige, was absolutely fantastic. She was friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service — a level of hospitality that is sometimes hard to come by. Well done to Paige for looking after us so well.
For starters, my wife (who is Italian) ordered the Flatbread Bruschetta. Unfortunately, it fell short of expectations; it didn't resemble a traditional Bruschetta, which might disappoint those familiar with authentic Italian cuisine. On the other hand, I had the Halloumi Fries, which were delicious — not rubbery or dry, but perfectly cooked.
For our mains, we both opted for the Cheeseburgers, which were very tasty with generous portions. The size was more than enough for us and left us feeling satisfied.
One significant area for improvement is the toilets. Cleanliness and hygiene seemed to be lacking, and this is something that definitely needs more attention.
Overall, we had an enjoyable evening. The prices are reasonable, and despite a few minor issues, we would be happy to return...
Read moreFrom the outside, this is a generic looking, bog standard pub...but it is a very well laid out good sized venue and is much more attractive on the inside than the out. The floor size is much larger than it looks and is nicely kitted out and can easily accommodate tables of 20 (which was our party size) without the cramming that can be necessary in other places. There was a decent selection of beer, wines and spirits to keep everyone happy at a reasonable price. The food (for me) was excellent and not too expensive although by no means the cheapest you could get. Most people enjoyed the food with no grumbles although 1 or 2 had some slight, "I'd have preferred...) or "It wasn't totally..." style comments but they had still enjoyed what they had. I have no doubt if there had been any actual complaints, the staff would have been straight on it and tried to resolve the issue as they were friendly and helpful. It's not the most easily accessible place from a travelling point of view but I believe is well worth a visit. It's got plenty of parking spaces to accommodate anyone...
