This place is a real gem for so many reasons but namely the two owners who are always absolutely lovely to customers, asking about how the day is going, and at the end of the meal offering travelers tips on hiking and touring.
All the coffee-based drinks are delicious, my favourite being the gorgeous mocha. The beans used are Highland roast from Inverness Coffee Roasters which also makes a great Americano.
The hot food and sandwiches, as well as all breakfast items, are handmade to order and as such are full of unique flavour. The chickpea burger has amazing spices and the lamb burger is always very nicely spiced. The chips served alongside many dishes are freshly peeled and sliced daily and the quality shows. As for vegetarian options, the goat's cheese salad is noteworthy and comes with collosal discs of warm cheese.
The portions are all very generous but if you do have any room left, all the cakes, bakes, and cookies are worth a go. The ginger cake is jam packed with gingery goodness and is quite unlike any I've had--so good. The variations on chocolate chip cookies are also perfectly moist with past favourites including biscoff and rolo varieties. If you're hiking through, this is a top spot for a warm drink and a cake.
Plenty of outdoor seating and well-considered inside spacious seating all with gorgeous views up the hills of the valley in...
Read moreMe and a good friend of mine were down in Fort Augustus for a week in early June and had planned to prepare our breakfasts most days and save on time, but if we ate out, we were only planning on doing so in a new place each time, allowing us more time to enjoy the Highlands. We were wrong, just go here instead. We ended up going more days than not and the staff are so friendly, it's amazing!
Nice and cosy, great food options without being too overwhelming, easily the best coffee (Mocha) I have ever had, which I miss more than Scotland itself. There are some good looking places within Fort Augustus, too, but we never tried the food within (besides Beaufort House) as this place is just that good. I don't see how any food related place could ever match the way I feel about Glen Rowan.
Thanks guys and gals, I apologise my review has taken this long. It's been stressful being...
Read moreIf you are on this road, I assume you are on your way to the Isle of Skye or heading towards Inverness from the Isle of Skye. Either way, this is an excellent spot for a quick bite.
Surrounded by the gorgeous scenery of the Highlands, this small roadside cafe surprises visitors with a surprise hello. Whether you need food, a bathroom, or cell service, this is a highly recommended stop.
BUT.....let's not get distracted by it; it's location for its food. I ordered coronation chicken sandwiches but it was out of this world. I wanted to finish it, but it was so good, and part of me also wanted to save it for later. It has choices of sides to choose from, and I chose the greens, which were fresh and just a great dish overall.
So, please stop by here, get yourself a great breakfast or lunch, use the restroom, and use the...
