We booked Bistro 19 for my father in-laws 70th birthday. The restaurant itself was pleasant and the staff couldn't have been more attentive. Our main meals were fantastic. Every member of our party made positive comments on their meal. The deserts however, were very disappointing. My daughter and I ordered the cheesecake of the day which was Nutella. It looked beautiful don't get me wrong but it had very little taste. The consistency was less like cheesecake and more like a whipped cream. The "Nutella" was probably half a teaspoon of Nutella melted and drizzled over the top. I was very disappointed. Others ordered the sticky toffee pudding which was a dry and crumbly piece of sponge cake with a drizzle of warm syrup over the top. My youngest daughter ordered the freshly baked cookie dough. She did enjoy it but for the price it was a very very small portion. Not everyone likes a desert but for my family who do enjoy a tasty sweet treat after our meal this was a big let down. Having said this I would definitely go back and recommend but I would probably do starter and main...

We honestly didn't feel welcome and for the price of lunch for two it's not exactly the cheapest option. The chicken strips were double dipped in the batter, both layers cooked separately could be seen and tasted. Fillet steak was dry and crunchy in bits. The onions on the ciabatta were stone cold and drained the steak of the little heat it had. Chips were hot and crispy. Raspberry dessert wasn't made with hot raspberries and the shortbread crumb wasn't fresh or crumbling it was crunchy and hard. Does anyone know if these now made and frozen in the glass then defrosted on demand? The individual piece of shortbread was delicious. Sadly when I complained about the steak I was blatantly told the waitress would pass it onto chef... No apology absolutely nothing. The sad reality is we wasted our treat from the kids at Christmas coming here and even the dessert was below...
Read moreThis was our first visit here and overall we were very impressed. All the waitresses were attentive and cheerie. For starters Haggis bonbon were amazing as was the black pudding with chorizo. My husband had the T-bone steak and I had the Fillet Balmoral both cooked exactly as requested in fact to perfection......Hats off to the chef. Both came with a choice of sides which were equally good. It was so good we couldn't resist having a desert. (Cannot remember the last time we had 3 courses) Strawberry Sundae and Raspberry with ice cream and shortbread (sorry can't remember what it was called) but was very refreshing. The only thing I regret is not taking a picture of all dishes as presentation was great too. Will definitely...
