We looked forward to our visit as we'd heard so many good things about this place, unfortunately we were slightly disappointed. When we arrived we were seated at a lovely pleasant table with a great window view but on closer inspection the table was covered in crumbs, during a pandemic I'd expect the tables to be immaculate on arrival. We ordered two large coffees which were rather small. To be fair it was a tasty coffee. We ordered breakfast rolls of 1 bacon and egg and another just egg. Our rolls arrived quickly with the eggs on both rolls uncooked in a jelly like state. After telling the staff the eggs were almost raw they were returned to the kitchen, cooked and returned to us. After eating our rolls my friend went to the counter to see what cakes were available and asked the girl behind the counter for a Couple of cakes. The girl was swiftly sent into the kitchen by what looked like senior staff and told to do dishes meaning she took over the cake order half way through. half our order was missed and only one cake /sweet came out. So we reordered the missing cake which arrived quickly. The millionaire shortbread was really delicious but sadly we revealed a hair baked into the Crispy cake, at this point we felt we had complained already about the coffee and eggs and felt we did not want to say anything else. Unfortunately we didn't enjoy our visit which is hugely disappointing after looking forward to it for a while. When we arrived we liked the setting, we sat in the car park before entering and we had talked-about how nice it looked and maybe returning for a lunch date, but sadly it was let down by a few things. In all honesty it could be better, I don't like leaving bad reviews so felt i should be honest but fair. The coffee tastes nice but very small cups. Millionaire shortbread was delicious. Tables need cleaning more regularly, eggs must be cooked properly and one member of staff to follow a tables order through start to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVery unwelcoming on arrival. Made to feel we were an inconvenience. Arrived at 14.30, and signs indicated they were closing at 16.00 for a private function. We were discouraged by the waitress to have lunch, and told coffee and cakes was the preferred option. So not sure if the frosty greeting was due to the early closing, or because we didn't speak with an English accent, wore the preferred attire or drove the desired vehicle. After ordering our tea, we were instructed to view and select our cakes from the display counter. I clearly voiced my choice to the waitress, but was presented at the table with the cake I said I did not want. Returning to the counter, I saw the cake I had chosen had been given to someone else that obviously came after me. The tea was weak and tasteless, low grade bags. Bakewell tart, dry, crusty and stale. Banana loaf, dry and crumbly. Fruit scone, cold in the middle, as if it had been defrosted and not freshly made. On paying, was met with the same level of disdain and disgruntlement as our welcome. No interest in whether we enjoyed our experience or not. Not even the manners, or decency to thank us for our custom, or bid us farewell. First time here for me, and after this disappointing experience, I certainly won't be returning. Would...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFood was average, definitely not as homemade as they make it out to be.
Service was probably one of the worst experiences Iāve had. Practically no āHello how are youā no one came throughout the meal to ask if it was all ok, we had to find someone to pay as no one came back to the table at all after they brought the food. When paying all they said was the total bill, there was no āhow was your mealā āhave a good dayā
The older lady serving couldnāt have had more of a frown on her face, not the type of person to be working in hospitality.
Even the other staff who brought our drinks and the girl at the till was just as bored and unwelcoming.
Iām not usually someone to leave reviews but when the service was this bad and food was pretty overpriced for what you get I think other people should be made...
