We were in Scotland for the Gralloch gravel race and staying just past the Lairds Inn, so it was convenient to stop there after the race on our way back to our air b&b. I'm glad we did. We arrived following the sat nav directions with no problems. Parking up there was clearly plenty of outside seating and we were a little earlier than we'd booked. At the restaurant entrance inside a nice young gentleman confirmed our reservation and gave us the modus operandi. Order at the bar, get a table number with condiments and cutlery and let them know where you're sitting. Simple. 4 menus and back to the table with the drinks. Unfortunately the lovely location of the first 2 tables we tried was spoilt by the fact that they were not suitable for eating food off as they were dirty, very rotten and rickety. So we sat at a table closer to the main building which was fine. The 4 of us all ordered different mains and shared haddock goujons and haggis bon bons for starters. Mains were pork terriaki for me, chicken & leek for the wife, mac & cheese for my son and scampi and chips for his fiance. All the food was excellent. Well cooked, well presented and very tasty all round. We all had a great meal and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone passing or staying in the area. We're hoping to be back in the area in June or July and will definitely be going back there to dine. Thank you so much for a...
Read moreFairly average food with below average service. Was sat down and provided with a menu. Once the waitress returned to ask for our order, we was told those items are sold out. Would have been nice to know before hand. This was also the case with a table beside us. Lots of eye rolling and laughter between our tables but ultimately we shouldn't be deciding what we are having without being told what is and isn't available. Food and drinks are dirt cheap. Got a pint for less than £4! Almost unheard of these days.
Nothing special, nothing terrible.
The ruin that is attached to this is amazing. A real shame it is so ruined and looks as though will be torn down due to the extreme cracks and subsidence.
Their website 'find me' for maps directions. Do not use this, it will take you up a dead end dirt track nowhere near the restaurant. This restaurant is located INSIDE THE CARAVAN PARK. The road that leads to the Lairds Inn is not on Google maps. Use satellite view to see the road that will...
Read moreAfter having a drink in the chill room with my family and 2 dogs I decided to phone a few days later to book a table. When I asked if I could book I mentioned the dogs and was informed that they were welcome as long as they are "well behaved". I replied saying that one of my dogs is nervous so can bark at people. The reply I got was that other diners would likely complain as they have had a lot of dogs in recently and people have complained about dogs barking. Two things: dogs do bark it is a natural instinct and not because they are behaving badly. Why if you did not have a dog would you come to a dog friendly place and then complain because other people had dogs with them? Wouldn't you just go somewhere that doesn't accept dogs? I'm not sure this place should be advertising itself as a dog...
