I pass this place almost every day and have wanted to try for ages. My wife and I were kid free on Saturday night so thought I would take her out somewhere different after we both finished work and spend some time together. Sat night) We phoned at 6.30pm to book for a table at 8pm which we were told 8.30pm would be the earliest. I appreciate that it’s a sat night and I said this was no problem. I was starving and thought 30min wouldn’t hurt. We set off and arrived at 8.20pm. We didn’t mind waiting a few minuets as we slightly early. The place was absolutely packed. And I don’t mean busy... I mean packed full. The bar area was so busy with people waiting for tables to be freed up. I explained we had a table for 8.30pm booked and we’re asked to wait at the bar area for our table to be ready. Again this didn’t upset us. We waited.... and waited.... and waited. I had to keep apologising to my wife for not choosing somewhere else. At 9.15pm we were finally allowed to be seated and order food. By this point I was quite upset and disappointed. No apologies nothing. Once we were seated it was a better experience. The food was quick and very good. The whole night was just ruined because we didn’t get seated and to order until 9.15pm. Again I appreciate that it’s a sat night. But I would rather have been told that you were fully booked so I could try else where than not be seen to until 9.15pm it’s fine being booked up and trying to make as much money as possible but please don’t be to greedy and waste peoples evening just trying to get a table. It’s called a booking for a reason. Again the food was good I can’t deny that. Just the waiting time was a massive disappointment and then no apology to follow it up. I would recommend to go but just avoid the sat nights as it’s a waiting game even...
Read moreHaving never been to mango and hearing such good things about it, we booked for hogmanay a good few weeks ago. Booked for 8pm, got a call 2 days before booking stating there was an error but 7pm booking available, no issues there, accepted it. Our group of 4 arrive and order, drinks and starter arrive, food was beautiful. We ordered the mains and 4 mains arrive soon after, 1 of the orders was incorrect, not a problem again, it happens. Young lady states will be ready in 8 minutes. 20 mins go by we had to get a hold of someone, being obvious that they forgot they said the 4th meal and the 2 additional drinks we ordered would be on the house. Thought that was really kind and weren’t expecting it anyway. Couldn’t fault the food, it was beautiful. After we all had our mains, so we enquire about the dessert menu, we’re given the options and ask for a few minutes to consider them. 5 minutes pass and the young girl comes back and states that the manager has said the restaraunt will close at 9 so we can’t order desserts, again, no issue at all. Until 5 minutes later when we overhear another table being given the dessert options that we were told we couldn’t have. The 4th meal was taken off the bill but the 2 additional drinks weren’t. We paid and only realised this when checking the receipt in the car. When we went to go back in and queery this the hostile response informing us that the 4th meal was free was enough for us not to even mention the 2 drinks. So all in all, the food was lovely but the staff weren’t as friendly as we were expecting and the service was a mixed bag. Unlikely we will return due to this but the food...
Read moreMe and my wife took our granddaughter here as it's one of the wee ones favourite places to eat in. The wife and wee one wanted brusceta (or bread in a tomato sauce??) but it wasn't available so opted for mushroom pakora and I ordered chicken pakora both were lovely and tasty. For mains our granddaughter chose pasta in tomato sauce,I ordered mushroom and ham calzone pizza, wife ordered butter chicken with side of chips for us all to share. Portions were very generous but I found calzone full of a packet cooked ham...lots of it...maybe too much. Wife struggled to finish her butter chicken due to portion being big and our Grandaughter finished her pasta no problem and as table was being cleared my wife sked if she could have her remainder of her meal boxed to take him to finish later which the young waiter said wasn't a problem. After we finished up and we're ready to pay the bill the young lad came over looking awkward as he told us my wife's plate holding her dinner had fallen and smashed ...and he was apologetic. Wife then explained she had only eaten roughly half of the meal and was it being replaced etc? The young lad was really sorry and we told him it wasn't his fault but we weren't going to pay full price for only half a meal and he agreed and asked would we be happy if we paid for our meal with a £15 reduction? We agreed to that and paid and left, but both felt that standards have dropped in which is a lovely restaurant and will give it a few months or so before...
