Read moreI have never left a negative review and while I do realize that this is far from a Michelin Star restaurant I also think that you can expect some sort of standard when you go out to eat. Unfortunately, the standard of hospitality at this restaurant was somewhere between very poor to nonexistent.
I wish I could comment on the quality of the food but unfortunately I can't. Immediately upon entering the restaurant we were rudely told, with no explanation, that they weren't taking orders for the next 30 minutes. After waiting 25 minutes and returning to the restaurant we were again rudely told that we were back far too early, however the woman at the counter took the orders of the customers behind us. Given the general treatment we received and being offered no further explanation as to why we had to wait we left without placing an order.
This may not seems like a big deal, and in the grand scheme of things it really isn't. But after reading the reviews of Mara we came with high expectations and were let down as soon as we walked through the door. We expected better from Mara and to say we were disappointed is an understatement.

The setting is as idyllic as it gets – boats bobbing in the harbour, dramatic hills behind you, and the sound of seabirds overhead. It’s the kind of place that immediately makes you slow down and soak in the moment.
The food? Absolutely beautiful. Fresh is the word that springs to mind. The fillet of hake burger, served with golden fries and a zesty Cajun slaw, was bursting with flavour and cooked to perfection. The grilled mackerel, done Thai style with a vibrant sweetcorn salsa and garlic sourdough, was a real standout – light, bold, and beautifully balanced.
Service was warm and friendly, with a laid-back charm that matches the surroundings perfectly. You get the sense this is a place run with pride and passion.
Whether you’re popping in for a takeaway to enjoy by the shore or sitting down for a bite inside, the Corrie Fish Bar & Deli offers an authentic taste of island life – simple, fresh, and unforgettable.
