We stayed in room 3 at Nethy House for two nights. We loved the fact that the rooms are individual and furnished with upcycled items such as our coffee table which was a cherished and much travelled trunk. The bed was incredibly comfortable and our ensuite spotless with plenty of hot water. Nethy House is ahead of many hotel chains in not providing individual milk cartons for coffee. Each room has a milk jug and the communal kitchen fridge is well-stocked with milk for guests to use so no wasteful plastic. Breakfast isn't included In the price but can be pre-ordered. As it's served between 7.30 and 8.30am we opted to eat in the wonderful Nethy House cafe which opens at 10am - the food is delicious and the staff very friendly. As a woman with wild hair, the only thing missing was a hairdryer in the room. We loved the informality and flexibility of Nethy House and would book there again. Room 3 has double aspect windows and you can hear the river as you drift...
Read moreAn absolute gem in the middle of nowhere! We passed through this little village and spotted the sign for this cafe. After a walk at a local loch we headed back for tea and cake. Reasonable prices and exquisite cakes! Great atmosphere very busy with locals, walkers and visitors. Opportunities to purchase local artists work and free coffee grounds to use within your garden. We loved this place so much we went back the following day on our route home to have a decent breakfast before a long journey. Fresh produce cooked properly not warmed up and served efficiently. Busy from opening when we arrived for breakfast with people including ourselves queuing outside. Would highly recommend for all the family.
Updated April 2025 Re-visited two years on. Still brilliant, still popular, a must for anyone...
Read moreWe had a great couple of nights here. The room was comfortable and the cafe charming. It’s great value for money and we’d definitely stay again as we enjoy the Cairngorms. We did some fantastic walks and visited nice distilleries in the area. The access to the kitchen was fantastic. We could have made dinner, but we did make our breakfast on the Wednesday they were closed and made sandwiches to take for our lunches. Having the fridge access was great. I’m very glad we did two nights. We could have even done three since there is so much to do in the area. You do need to think about where you would go for dinner. We went to the Nethy hotel across the street, which was great, but if you have had a long day of hiking you’d want to have your dinner figured out somewhere in the area...
