A bit disappointing to say the least. My husband and I visited for some late breakfast and both ordered their breakfast at £13.50 each. I'm not one for black pudding or haggis, so asked for them to be substituted as I have done in many other cafes/ hotels. Unfortunately they don't offer this. They can remove items, but if you'd like a replacement, they will charge you per item. Service was okay, however the girl at the counter was very short and didn't have any manners. We both just wanted some iced water with our food but they offer a water jug in the fridge, with plastic cups? Seems quite wasteful? When we're in a nice, tranquil area of wilderness. The cutlery was bent and we noticed the radiator next to us was very dirty. We also had to wait almost 20 minutes for two breakfasts, for them to give us the wrong egg order. By that point we were just hungry and had to leave the eggs which is very disappointing. My husband doesn't like scrambled eggs and so had ordered poached, so he physically couldn't eat his eggs. Just all in all very disappointing for the price you're paying. Scrambled eggs on toast was £10! Unfortunately won't...

Decided to stop here for some lunch whilst traveling north. The cafe is just off the A9 so very convenient to pull in for something to eat. However, I don't think I will be returning any time soon. Upon entering the cafe we were eventually informed that there were menus at the table and after deciding what we wanted, we were to return to the counter to order. I think at the high price point of the cafe, table service may be a nice touch. The same was the case if you required cutlery and napkins, another trip up to the cutlery station. After deciding to order soup and ciabattas we made our way back up to the counter to be informed that there was no soup or ciabattas (despite not being informed on arrival). The cafe wasn't particularly warm and looking around, everyone still had their winter jackets on, a small wood-burning stove would transform this place! Cold water and an overflowing bin in the toilets certainly didn't add to the experience. The available food was okay but the overall experience wasn't a positive one. Hopefully, these points can be taken on board as the cafe has the potential to be a fantastic...

I’ve been here a few times and enjoyed the coffee and cakes. The savoury food from kitchen is hit-and-miss - the macaroni and eggs Benedict I’ve have previously were alright but not amazing (for price would expect higher level of execution). Today I had the breakfast quesadilla, which was a huge portion but couldn’t tell whether it had cheese in it, per the name! Anyway, they have a tent aside the building to offer more seating but this means the cafe itself is currently very cold as side door is always open. New staff messed up my order and getting them to sort it seemed to be left entirely to me. More experienced staff could hear what was going on but didn’t see fit to step in. Meanwhile my food is getting cold and my husband dealing with our baby alone. It was my birthday breakfast out and kinda ruined the vibe for the day. Customer service just wasn’t there. I would come back for coffee/cakes casually but wouldn’t risk...

They say presentation is everything, I think this place took that too literally. The breakfast at first sight looked amazing, very well presented, unfortunately the majority of the food was overcooked, the black pudding was crunchy and flavourless, the haggis had plenty of flavour but again over cooked and crunchy, the bacon was dry and chewy like a piece of jerky, the lorne sausage was again over cooked and chewy, the poached egg yolk was actually lovely except there seemed to be very little egg white to accompany it. The beans and toast however were delicious. So if you like beans on toast it’s a thumbs up, if you like a well cooked breakfast not so much. I don’t mind paying good money for good food, but you are literally paying for the presentation here. The coffee was actually very good I have to say.
