Booked in for dinner and the food itself was amazing and so tasty. I ordered the fillet steak at £35 and there was an option to add scallops for an extra £8. We didn't order any sides as we didn't realise that the mains would be served with very little vegetable etc. We are not big eaters but the portions were very small. The £8 scallops for my dinner were 2 scallops on the plate and they were about the size of a 10p coin each. Both our mains we were told were locally sourced and we have eaten all over the world and understand rising costs and overheads but £8 for two small scallops is ridiculous and dinners were small portions for £35 each. My husband fish dish was very small too. When we received the bill there was a 'gratuity' charge of 10% already on the bill. We always leave a tip anyway but we were surprised seeing this on the bill, does that mean the money goes to the business owner instead of staff tips? We have only seen this automatic charge before if you had a large party of diners or in the states. As I said the food was amazing and the staff were efficient and friendly and we wouldn't have needed to say anything about the prices if we had received...

Great food sadly let down by the service during our visit. From the moment we were shown to our table, we didn't exactly feel welcome. Our waitress was not warm or friendly and this made the entire experience quite awkward unfortunately. At one point, I ordered a beer which was warm and my partner went to see our waitress to ask for another one. She simply said 'well it was in the fridge' and told my partner 'to go over there and ask them' (signalling to the host station). Thankfully the other waitresses actually apologised and gave us a cold beer. At the end of the meal we asked for the bill and waited for over 20 minutes with our card on the table ready to pay. This is too long to wait considering that multiple waitresses were standing chatting to each other. With no sign of anyone approaching, we got up and went to pay at the host station directly then left feeling disappointed by the experience. As stated at the beginning, the food was brilliant - we had turbot and risotto which were delicate...

North Harbour Bistro, nestled in the scenic embrace of Scalpay on the Isle of Harris, is a culinary revelation that feels like a symphony of the senses. The maestro behind this masterpiece is the owner George, whose passion and vision have created an outstanding dining experience.

Stepping into the restaurant is akin to entering a hidden treasure chest of flavors. The menu is an adventure in creativity, with each dish telling a unique story. The presentation is a work of art, and every bite is a tantalizing surprise, a harmonious blend of local ingredients that transports you to the heart of the Outer Hebrides.

But it's not just about the food. The service here is an ode to sincerity and kindness. The staff curate an experience that's warm, welcoming, and informed.

To George and the remarkable team at North Harbour Bistro, kudos for crafting one of the Outer Hebrides' culinary treasures. This isn't just a restaurant; it's a portal to a world of flavors and...

Don't be deceived by the unassuming exterior, this place serves the finest seafood I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying. They should enter the Great British Menu TV show. I went with my wife, 2 year old and a friend. The staff are friendly and welcoming - again unassuming in their style. We all enjoyed a fresh langoustine starter which was delightful. They kindly brought out the kiddie food first - amazing portion of chicken goujon a, chips and beans. Not too salty. For mains our friend had the hallibut and my wife and I enjoyed (really enjoyed) the roast cod, crab and scallop. See photos - seriously delicious, served with a light green curry sauce, vegetable crisps and potato and a wonderfully buttery cream sauce. All artistically presented. Deserts did not fail either with pannacotta and a straight up hearty sticky toffee pudding. This charming Bistro deserves to be a renowned spot on any culinary map. George and his team should be famous.

Best seafood we've had probably anywhere in Scotland. A very unassuming and unpretentious little bistro which is well worth the drive to this secluded and beautiful spot on the Island. My Cullen skink was delicately but beautifully flavoured in a delicious creamy sauce. I had halibut from the specials board for my main which was succulent and delightfully crispy on the outside. The accompanying pea puree and flaked carrot (?) was also beautifully cooked. Two of us had cocktails which were marvellously done the espresso martini perfect as was the mojito. Our bill was on the pricey side for the four of us but really worth it as the food quality is so good here. Interesting music choice to suit the down to earth vibe which was a fascinating smorgasbord of 80's and 90's hits 😳.

Had a great meal here while holidaying in Harris. We all love fish so we’re delighted to see such a range of fish dishes on offer both on the menu and the specials board. Scallops were enormous and I enjoyed them in both a starter and as part of a main dish with halibut. Salmon starter was beautifully presented and delicious. We had sea bass, halibut and venison as our mains. Sides of chips and seasonal vegetables were well seasoned and tasty. Portion sizes were very generous so unfortunately we had no room for dessert. We loved the community feel to the restaurant with local children singing to raise money for a choir trip to the mainland and locals working there. Service was very friendly and helpful.
