Myself and my family had a lovely meal in the Paul Jones Hotel both yesterday and today. The hotel from the outside looked well aged however the hotel itself is a very old building so that justify' s that. The food and the service was brilliant. We all had the Macaroni and chips and Beef Lasagne and chips and various deserts. First up, I myself have cooked Macaroni and cheese in various styles as I love the dish and can honestly say a very good critic of it. I have had bad experiences and also pleasant surprises with this dish in many places and country's and can honestly say hand on my heart that the chef within the Paul Jones hotel is amazing at cooking this dish and honestly the very best I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. The pasta which was traditional Macaroni was cooked to perfection and the all important sauce was the perfect consistency, perfect mature cheddar flavor complimented by a smooth cream consistency topped with a really lovely baked mature cheddar served in along side a generous helping of chips.Myself and my daughter both had this dish two days in a row and loved it on both occasions so the chef is very consistent in their high standards. My wife also had the beef lasagne which was totally amazing and the generous helping was very filling. I was made with steak mince and and was a very balanced flavored throughout and was the perfect firm consistency as was the pasta layers and the buffalo mozzarella was amazing also. We could not recommend the Paul Jones Highly enough. The prices were very reasonable as the Adults Macaroni and chips was priced at 08.65 and the Lasagne and chips was the exact same price. The kids Macaroni was also the exact same Macaroni as the larger adults portion which was really good as it is very often different and not so good. We will defo be back again and the atmosphere there was warm pleasant and very friendly.Defo one for a...
Read moreWe booked a table for a meal as it was my daughters 18th birthday. The staff we dealt with were lovely, our waitress was really sweet. However the food was a little disappointing. We waited quite a long time for our food, although we were kept informed that there had been a large party before us so things were running behind. This was fine with us, unfortunately when the food came to us, my youngest sons meal was wrong and so 7 of us had our meals but he had to wait an extra 10 minutes for his to arrive. To the restaurants credit, his meal was taken off the bill and we were grateful. I personally enjoyed my cajun chicken salad, it was tasty and fresh, my parents weren't impressed with the salt and chilli chicken or the scampi they felt it was overpriced for what it was. Overall, a nice visit, can't fault the staff at all, only real complaints are the length of wait and my youngest son having to wait longer...

Karen had the homemade steak pie with chips and garden peas, and she loved it—perfectly cooked and a great portion. I went for the gammon and haggis melt with chips and garden peas, and it was absolutely delicious, one of the best pub meals I've had for a while—definitely a 10/10!
