The owners were amazing; with great service, knowledge about the area, and they were very attentive hosts.
The food, oh the food! My fiancée and I enjoyed 3 delicious courses; each one had us looking forward to the next.
The prawn cocktail was sweet, delicate, and fresh; with the sweet potato, chilli, and coconut soup having an amazing depth of flavour and warmed you through, perfect for those cold and rainy days.
The beer-battered cod was fantastic, with the batter perfect and making the knife sing as you ran your knife over it, and the perfect crunch with every bite. The mushroom ravioli being earthy with plenty of that umami flavour.
The sticky toffee pudding was sublime, with a rich sauce and the addition of some sugar crystals to give that slight crunch adding that next dimension to each bite.
I've paid alot more for a lot less in other places, and left those same places feeling much less satisfied than our meal at the Salen.
We will be back next time we are...
