Shanghai Banquet — Restaurant in Scotland

We'd made a reservation but turned out we didn't need to as didn't get the chance to say this on arrival, we were quickly shown to a table.

First time visiting and was pleasantly surprised by the vast selection of dishes on offer. Food was hot and they kept the dishes topped up quite quickly. There were always plenty of plates, but be mindful of what you put on your plate as they're quite small and don't have a lip to them. A lot of the sauces were quite runny as well so you're probably better to make more trips up if you don't want the different sauces to mix together. The honey chilli chicken and beef in black bean sauce was really good.

The only thing I personally didn't like was the texture of the battered chicken balls and found the salt and pepper chicken pieces very crunchy. Also didn't realise there was soup until after picking up a plate - they're in the second section! So missed out on having that to start with but didn't matter. There were also steamed buns and a small selection of sushi, but didn't try those so can't comment.

They have a selection of desserts, some were labeled and others were not which made deciding what to pick up a little tricky. Found one of the chocolate cake ones a bit dry, the jelly cubes weren't great either (bit like eating jelly straight from the packet you usually dissolve first) but the profiteroles were good and a few of the small pots (whatever they were!) The chocolate fountain is a novelty, just a shame they didn't have anything other than marshmallows to use! Would be great if there were strawberries or something. Did appreciate the refillable soft drinks though!

Overall for a Monday night it was good value for money, but not sure I'd want to visit when it's more expensive than that. Shame it's a little bit out of the way for us to visit more often but would definitely consider going...

This quite honestly is one of the best Chinese Buffets I have visited & I used to live in Hong Kong, there is a very diverse food range & it takes in the needs of all dietary needs of customers, the food is checked & changed regularly so obviously is as fresh as possibly it can be, there is something for everyone. The service is superb from the moment you walk through the doors hou are warmly welcomed with a smile befitting of a restaurant who values their custom, you are immediately shown to a seat in an immaculate dining area & have your orders taken for drinks, you are immediately advised to go to choose your food ( and amazing sight to see ) beautifully laid out & all labelled with food allergies taken into account as well as all other dietary requirements, your table is cleared of used plates immediately so you are always sitting at a clean table. I highly recommend this restaurant & I have done so on a regular basis from my first visit with my Nephew the week it opened, it truly is well worth a visit if you like authentic Chinese food, there is a very warm welcoming atmosphere with large panoramic views out onto the lake where swans are always ready to be viewed. Wow, beautiful place with a lively atmosphere. The staff were fantastic and the place was amazingly clean and organised. I mentioned in the booking that my daughter was turning 18 so technically we're 3 adults and 2 children - they brought out a cake with a candle while singing happy birthday. Lovely touch. There was sushi, fruit, desserts, chocolate fountain and and ice-cream station and nothing prepared me for the amount of savoury options. If you don't like Chinese food they have even got that covered with various options such as a potato gratin and sausages. This place is just outstanding!!!! Every time you go back for more they clear your plates, such a lot of work for them but they make it all seem effortless. You can also walk in and get a takeaway tub for £7 to fill with whatever you like or take one home afterwards.The fountain was beautiful at night as you look through the huge glass wall overlooking the lake.
