I was out with the family today, 15/10/2023 for a walk and went to have lunch to the cafe around 15:30. As I entered, holding one baby in my arms and my girl by my side (as the lift was not working my husband went to put the buggy in the car) two ladies were clearing dishes from tables. They did not welcome us at all. I went in looked around to see whether I can find a high chair and as I couldn’t see any I went back to those ladies which even at that point they did not pay any attention as if I was invisible. I waited thinking they will atleast look at me which they did not so I asked whether I can get a high chair. Then one of them looked around and pointed me one! So I walked thinking that she will come to help me to get it as it was under a table which with one hand I couldn’t take. But when I looked back to see whether anyone is coming there was none. They were just chatting and doing their work. I was very much surprised to see their gesture. I was standing helplessly at the table which I was planing to take and was looking back at them. One lady saw me and was not willing to come. I kept looking at them in surprise then unwillingly she went and got me the high chair. By then I was very upset by the attitude and behavior of those ladies but still I thanked her. Then my husband arrived and I’ve told him what happened. He went to the counter to order food and the guy wasn’t very much knowledgeable in what he should do The same guy served us food, he was atleast polite and nice. While having food we saw how those same ladies were attending another couple with a baby and how attentively she got a baby chair for them and cleaned it thoroughly. She was being so nice to that couple and the baby and was saying hello, smiling and waving. This is pure racism! We are Asians and the other couple was also of biracial couple. Later we noticed by their conversations the rude lady is the mother of the guy who served us. That lady kept on eating and with mouthful instructing her son whom yo give what. she kept on eating and walking which was disgusting to see! No manners at all! These kind of people should not be placed to welcome or interact with guests in such a lovely place. Those two ladies just ruined our experience! If you view the cameras you will exactly see what happened. Date...
Read moreTerrible service. Waited behind two guys in a queue who were waiting for ages to be serviced at till. Turns out there was only 1 person working with perhaps 1 in the back kitchen but he was "too busy" making sure menus were all straight on all tables and did mundane tasks that could have very well waited until he dealt with about to be paying customers.
STUPID set up there as well. You're asked what table number you will take before you even know where you'd sit. It isn't a large cafe. They could easily see where we'd be sitting without having to pressure all customers to choose a table quickly before even asking what they'd like to order. Really, really dumb set-up.
Coffee is mediocre. And I wouldn't bother with the lorne sausage rolls. Oh, and seriously RIDICULOUSLY overpriced. Both lattés and two lorne sausage rolls (single bit of meat in a roll) came to sixteen bloody quid. Absolutely outrageous.
Wouldn't bother coming. No atmosphere. Weird setup. Overpriced food items on menu. Not great tasting. Poor service.
Only good thing about this place was the scenery if you get a table by window.
Don't waste your...
Read moreNot greeted at all on arrival, felt like a time warp to the 1970s. Interior not updated in forever, plastic flowers. Menu options uninspiring and all appear to be from frozen and made from cheap ingredients. Awful cold stale pie, cheese scone that tasted of little but bicarb. Oat milk only available on the side so I assume all hot drinks are made by a machine?
Staff seem uninterested in anything besides hoovering their carpet. We were there long before closing and they were hoovering one table over from us.
I ordered soup, they totally forgot and didn’t apologise when I went to enquire about its whereabouts.
Just not worth your time, has such potential in such lovely location.
Definitely recommend the new viewpoint but avoid the cafe. Bring your own flask...
