Thai Orchid — Restaurant in Scotland

I've never been to such a mixed place, the service was almost none existent people were being served in no particular order, people before us got their food at the same time as us but several people who came in after us got served before us all, but not all the food ordered was served to the correct people, part orders were served up and the remainder served 10 minutes later once the chef had re-cooked whatever was missing. The waitress apologised and said she'd got all the orders mixed up, maybe this was because there was a power cut as we arrived so orders were being taken by hand on paper. Next the food, my partner had the Thai fishcake starter which was inedible and looked like a re-constituted sausage patti, very flat and thin and shiny. It also tasted disgusting, he left it. My vegetable spring rolls were just average. However, our main courses were the best we've tasted. Second time here oh dear oh dear I phoned to book on a Sunday for a la Cart the Thai lady said my staff said you didn’t turn up the week before I said I have a copy of the receipt to prove that we did we arrived before 5 pm the door got opened at 5 past 5 we went in I recognised that Thai voice I showed her the copy of the receipt we did not get an apology they sat us 2 in the bar at about quarter past 5 they took our drinks order then 5 minutes they took or meal order 4 people came in they had not booked they took them in to the restaurant so why did they sit us in the bar service was not good my partner had to go to the bar and ask can I have a sweet after about a 10 minute wait a staff member said I will bring the sweet board to you it never arrived no main meal plates cleared away neither so we got up disgruntled to pay the sweet board girl said oh sorry I forgot come on we where al la cart not the buffet we traveled from near Hamilton needless to say we won’t be back don’t get me wrong the food is good but the service is...

I want to start by praising the customer service of the young female waiting staff. They were very polite and attentive.

We had a fantastic meal at Thai Orchid in Dalton. I ordered the Drunken Noodles with chicken—seriously spicy but so full of flavour that I couldn’t stop eating them (even if I did regret the heat a little the next morning! 😅). My wife had the salt and chilli chicken and was equally impressed, raving about how well-balanced and tasty it was.

We shared the waffles and ice cream for dessert, which was a lovely treat and finished the meal off perfectly.

The restaurant itself has been newly renovated and looks great. It has a really nice, relaxed vibe inside and a comfortable outdoor area that’s perfect for warmer days. Overall, we loved it and would highly recommend it for anyone wanting really good, authentic Thai...
