First time visiting with family and loved the experience. We sat in the corner and told my young son that the black lady ghost would visit him if he didn't eat all his dinner! He never left anything! Brilliant! The atmosphere was lovely a really pretty building, the staff were lovely and polite and service was quick. The food for all concerned was delicious and arrived piping hot. It was so good I only managed pictures of the starter! Would thoroughly recommend. Covid restrictions in place are masks whilst moving about and staff are disinfecting surfaces between customers. There is a small carpark to the rear, we parked at the bottom of the hill and walked it up so gives us a little work out.

A really lovely, cosy wee place. A classic exposed stone and wooden beam type spot. All of the staff were super friendly and attentive, happily helping with with anything we needed. The quality of the food was a pleasant surprise. It was excellent quality "pub grub", beautifully cooked. We had the classic scampi and chips. The chips, like most things on the menu, were homemade. Homemade beef and ale pie, then finished off with homemade sticky toffee pudding. We were stuffed. The portions were quite large. I can't recommend this wee spot enough, we were delighted.

2nd time at applebank tonight, soon was we entered was nice n cosy we were allowed to sit at any table. The girl serving was polite and very friendly, we chose 2 starters chicken nachos and potato skins, my wife got fish with a lemon white sauce and mash potatoes, daighter had cajun chicken and steamed rice and a side of fries, and i had the steak pie, all food was hot and fresh and we couldn't fault it. The nachos are top notch fresh made nachos.

Heard great things about the applebank. Food was great. Can't complain about that. We were there for my son's 10th birthday party and sat outside. There was a group of people having a few drinks sitting next to us. After about 10 minutes they were all shouting and swearing. I've never heard so much vulgar and disgusting language on a night out never mind a family restaurant. They moved tables closer to us and one woman kept staring, looking for a reaction I'm guessing. Again, let me emphasise how loud and disgusting their behaviour was. It made my gran and son very uncomfortable. Their dog splashed mud all over my gran to which they just laughed and continued shouting and swearing. Couldn't enjoy my meal. I left as soon as I finished with my son as i knew i was ready to say something, didn't even get to do his cake or anything. Never seen women act so disrespectful and trashy in my life. It's not the applebanks fault but one of the workers or manager spoke to them like they knew them, so would have expected her to...

Dropped in at lunch time to be greeted by the sound of our hostess singing along to music always a good sign, someone happy at their work. I am the most picky eater but nothing was too much trouble, Sirloin steak, no vegetables at all except chips! My friend ordered Steak pie. We intended having main course and dessert. But the Steak pie had a massive amount of steak. My friend loved it, but despite her best effort she couldn't finish it. No problem. She was given a doggy box. To me and my Sirloin steak. I loved it. Cooked to perfection, along with delicious gravy. Fantastic! To the inn It's pet friendly. We were lucky enough to meet a lovely 2 year old, large and friendly dog. Great. You do get a set of rules for dogs, all very sensible reminding owners, and I paraphrase, not everyone is a dog lover. But we were. I cannot give enough praise to all the staff. They were very friendly and humorous. It just completed a fantastic lunch in a very enjoyable way. I...

I went to the Applebank Inn, last night (22/1/13) with 27 friends for a bite to eat and a few drinks. The atmosphere of the place was truly lovely. It was cosy and welcoming and the staff were extremely helpful. It was incredibly clean and the ablutions were immaculate.

The food was nothing short of outstanding. The set menu was both innovative and wide ranging and the prices were really good. The service was great and the owner, Audrey, was attentive and polite, demonstrating that she really cared about her customers. Great front of house!

A first class night and well worth the 50 miles drive to enjoy the experience. I will be going again and I would stroingly recommend this to...
