We visited The Ardentinny while on a weeks away in Dunoon.

The menu was limited with only one vegetarian option. One of our party, a 13 year old didn't like any of the options on the main and the staff were happy to accommodate and did the starter steak option as a main. No specials on the board.

Starters - We ordered bread for the table to start, this never came and was still on the bill. It was removed once we advised it wasn't provided.

Mains - The steak arrived, It was disappointing that this didn't come with any greens just steak and chip. when the bill arrived this cost £30.00 (more than anything else in the menu)

The fish and chips also didn't come with any greens or salad, just fish and chips with sauce.

Cod and muscles was lovely, my husband really enjoyed this. This can with just abit of veg.

The fish, chips and steak were cooked well and tasted lovely.

The vegi pasta option i had was on the cold side, it tasted just ok. some of the pasta wasn't cooked correctly and was stuck together.

Dessert- We didn't bother with dessert as there was only one option.

Location- The location is brilliant and the terrace is perfect if you are looking for somewhere for an afternoon drink.

Atmosphere - The main restaurant had more of a cafe or bistro feel to it. It was cold, i didn't take off my jacket the whole time. We sat under the skylight which when i looked up was full of cobwebs in the corners.

Staff - Very friendly and polite. casually dressed, baggy jeans and none matching tops, they didn't look like staff.

Over all this place could be great but feels like they are trying too hard on the menu and prices for what you get, the decor...

really looking forward to this, stunning location but the owner, jade, is the rudest person I've ever come across. dead lady bird in my starter salad, apparently my fault as we sat outside. how a dead lady bird flew into my dinner i have no idea. my sea food linguini was bland, just tasted of cheese, no flavour from the prawns or mussels (seem to be the frozen variety) i told the waiter but because i didn't tell jade, again it's my fault. apparently she came to our table 5 times during our meal. this is an unfortunate mistecollection of events as the only time she came to us after she took the order was to replace my daughters steak, cooked well done instead of medium rare. this apparently my fault also as i don't know steaks. now a steak with no pink def isn't medium rare. i asked if she would take the linguini off the bill but because i didn't tell her directly, it was my fault. honestly, her attitude is horrendous, at one stage she told me "I'm bored now, go away". travelled from belfast for this, drove over an hour and took another ferry to be treated like this, never come across an attitude like this. read the feedback on trip advisor and alot of it is exactly the same, rude and aggressive, have to agree and never once asked us how we enjoyed the meal, horrible person def in the wrong industry. Potential customers, please see jades reply and her language used, this just proves my point on her personality and...

The Ardentinny was an absolute delight to dine at.

Booking online, easy peasy. Arrival, easy to find, parking opposite the restaurant. Service, fantastic. Friendly and attentive. Atmosphere and decor is modern and relaxing. We dined mid-week so it was fairly quiet being off-peak season in the area especially.

Visit 1: We booked here and loved the menu. All the starters sounded fantastic and oh boy they did not disappoint. Perfectly executed, wonderfully presented and went down a treat. Main course & desserts were just as perfect.

We loved it so much, we just had to come back.

Visit 2: Same menu, but was advised it would be changing the following day, which, if we could stay another night in the area we would've! But fantastic to hear they switch things up regularly to keep it exciting. Food, just as delicious. Myself and my partner had the Venison. One of the most perfectly cooked venison we have ever devoured.

Price wise, I have ate in many fine dining restaurants serving up very similar plates of food as The Ardentinny did, and paid twice as much. Outstanding value for money here too.

I cannot sing The Ardentinnys praises enough and wish them the very best for the remainder of 2023 and beyond.

If you are in the area, or outskirts and willing to travel (we drove 30 mins to dine here) please do book here, you...

We are repeat diners of The Ardentinny. I'll qualify that by saying we are holidayers and have been there in the past but the present is certainly where the Ardentinny shines. The menu is dynamic in that it's constantly changing and the choices cover a wide spread of tastes but not overwhelming in their choice. The service, presentation and the food is bliss. From speaking to the staff they also support local produce when available and compliment this by cooking and presenting this in the best possible way. P.S. Although The Ardentinny is not a pub drinkers are also welcome from what we experienced. P.P.S. I shy away from taking pictures of food...I weakened in this case

Outstanding meal and service. Elegra and Sebastian are wonderful hosts and chefs. Our meal from start to finish was incredible, the beef short rib was amazing and the polenta cake and crème brûlée was delicious. Sebastian even made handmade made to order mayonnaise for me which was the best I have ever had. An absolute hidden gem and I would highly recommend a lovely meal here to anyone! Friendly, welcoming and just all around wonderful!!
