My friend and I booked a room here quite late in the day back in early August, having camped at Loch Lomond for two nights beforehand. We turned up a little late for dinner, but the staff very kindly waited for us and served (for my part) some of the most outstanding mussels I've had, followed by (for both of us) a truly excellent fish and chips. The service was superb - special mention to the lady who served us and the kitchen staff after holding on a few minutes after the kitchen was due to close. This was hugely appreciated. Upon entering the room later on, we realised it was rather hot and, after getting the windows opened wide, the chap at reception very kindly lent us his one and only fan! This was very warmly received, especially given that we had my dog with us and we managed to keep the room cool for him too. The following day, we spent a couple of hours playing pool in the bar, again with excellent service, this time by another lady who served us coffees and snacks throughout. All in all, we enjoyed an excellent stay at the Creggans Inn and to be quite frank, I’ve already discussed returning here with my family at some point. I should add at this point all the usual observations - comfy beds, very spacious room, great power shower, lovely views of Loch Fyne throughout the inn and (as if it needs repeating) really excellent service and thoroughly kind people running the place. Many thanks to the whole team for making this such an enjoyable...
Read moreWe visited Creggans for an evening meal, staying in a cottage locally. We found the restaurant quite appealing and nicely furnished, though a bit lacking in atmosphere. Our food was just ok. We shared pitta breads and hummus for a starter .. the hummus was tasty, the pitta breads warm). One main course was a steak pie.... the meat was beautifully cooked, too much actually, but the 'pie' only comprised a separately cooked thick overly-flaky cushion of puff pastry balanced on top. The vegetables were nice, tasty, well-cooked. The other main course was the fish pie ... this was a fairly small portion, but hot and nicely cooked (presumably microwaved from a previously prepared portion), good quality prawns & white fish, but a little under-seasoned. It would've been nice to have a piece of crunchy bread on the side, especially for a contrast in texture, and to mop up the sauce at the end (luckily I kept a small piece of pitta bread from the starter as I thought from the menu description that this might've been a short-coming). We didn't try the desserts. The Fyne Ales Highlander beer was very good and reasonably priced, tho the pint of lime & soda...
Read moreWhat an awful experience we had! 6 adults all well behaved and out for a lovely Saturday drive. Stopped here thinking what a lovely place for a wee lunch and a coffee. |The lady refused any food, as they stopped serving at 2pm, when I joked it’s only 3 minutes past I was told quite rudely “we don’t do any food!”|Placed a coffee order and she produced the bill so quick I hadn’t even finished my order! And was not happy to have to continue taking the rest of my order. |Only biscuit available was shortbread at £3 for 2 small pieces. Drinks order arrived and was not correct or even that hot! |Then to finish off, my mother in law stood up only to discover the chair she had sat on was soaking wet, thinking the owner would be happy to be told that a chair was wet instead he took the attitude of couldn’t care less. No sincere apology was made to my poor mother that now had wet trousers. |What a real real shame! I never write reviews but this place was something out of faulty towers, almost as if they didn’t want us to come in or indeed want any...
