YOU CAN KISS A HIGHLAND COW HERE!! Thatās all you need to know. But thereās so much more!! We tried Eilean Donan Castle but it was closed for a private event. By chance we found this gem just 15 minutes away!
Located in a tiny scenic village just off the beaten path this is a working farm. The family has been here for generations. They have a lovely cafe where you can grab a meal with friendly staff and a nice selection of drinks like special hot chocolate, local food and even ice cream.
For £20 though, you get an AMAZING private full hour tour of the farm by the crofter. His love of his animals and his enthusiasm for his business is evident immediately. The perfect tour guide, he was funny and took the time to not only show us around but teach us all about the animals, their breeding, history, and so much more. They had three different ages of Highland cows here and you really get up close and personal with them. We not only enjoyed their company we learned so much. They each have their own sweet personalities and their names just add to the fun!
If this is on your list for things to do in Scotland, or if youāre looking for something unique with a personal experience you absolutely MUST visit The Croft Cafeā. If there were 6āļø Iād give them.
Itās easy to find. Just follow the Google map directions you will not be disappointed. And make sure to Bring...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFinally Duirnish is on the tourism map with this converted barn providing quality cooking. There are hot main meals and light bites which is impressive given the size of the kitchen. I recommend both the starters and mains but make sure you leave space for one of the cake options! They are all on show on the counter display. I had a burger and we had halloumi bites with chilly dip to share. There was a high chair for our young one. This is a great stop before or after saying hello to the highland cows that roam the village and is on the way to/from Plockton. There is easy parking just across the road and so wheelchair access is also not a problem. The WC is also easily big enough for disabled access. As an old highland barn there isn't a huge amount of seating inside (think a cozy craft not cafeteria) but there is plenty of outdoor seating for sunnier days. Although the barn is next door to the road, Duirinish is pretty quiet so outside eating with a view towards Skye is a pleasure. Looking forward to our next chance to visit for a coffee or...
