We came in here for the first time today to give it a try. We have moved into the area we’re excited to find a nice looking pub that had good reviews online. When we arrived with my daughter and dog we were warmly welcomed by a young girl who sat us down and gave us menus. Our dog was brought a bowl of water without us asking. We were shown some games to keep our daughter entertained which was such a lovely touch by the owners. The pub itself was lovely and clean and the music on the speakers really made the atmosphere despite us being the first people through the door.

The menu is interesting. But certainly had potential. My husband ordered the prawns and a steak sandwich ( he wanted the steak frites but it wasn’t available), I ordered Mac and cheese as it was the vegetarian option and I got the baby Mac and cheese for my daughter. We ordered some chips to share too. The food took a little while but not an unreasonable amount of time and the lady who brought it out seemed very nice. Unfortunately the food itself was aggressively bad. The mac and cheese came out looking bubbly and lovely but it appeared to have been just some Mac and cheese from the fridge that had a bit of cheese grilled onto it. The inside of the dish was stone cold. Im not expecting a pub to be making fresh pasta for every customer but it to be heated would’ve been nice. The little garlic breads were nice that came with it. My husbands steak sandwich was also cold and was just some reheated rubbery steak. The prawns were slightly more edible but not good. The chips were good. Crispy and salty. We didn’t eat our food apart from the chips and a couple of prawns and yet the staff didn’t ask was everything ok or didn’t check the dishes. It was like they knew the standard of food they were offering. The bill came to Ā£63, so not exactly cheap. And I’m really not that fussy when it comes to food but I’m honestly left feeling a bit worried that I could end up sick from the...

Shame they weren't serving the lunch menu but still tried it even though it was quite pricey for lunch. Ordered the hake and fish and chips which was nice. The side of mushy peas was a thimble size for some reason which was poor value considering the price. The major let down was the desserts, first choice when tried to order we were told they don't have it so both settled for sticky toffee pudding with banana sorbet(which sounded interesting) only to be given sticky toffee with a bog standard scoop of vanilla ice-cream. We didn't want vanilla ice-cream? Why substitute without saying? Odd as this was what was listed on the cheaper lunch menu...but weren't selling this today?

Highlighted this twice, once after receiving the dish (said the said didn't bother making it today) well tell us when ordering? Another member of staff when paying asked how the meal was. Highlighted this and the response we got was "yeah" great, don't ask how it was if you don't care? Still charged full price for desserts with the missing element.

Benefit, very dog friendly, bring water and give treats. Might try again for Sunday...

They overpromise and under-deliver. The food was super underwhelming. The brisket is just pulled beef doused in bbq sauce which was way too sweet and overpowering. I assume to hide from the fact that it’s not a good brisket. The whole point of a brisket is that the meat is the main star of the show, the sauce completely took away from it.

The Philly cheesesteak was dry, the steak was chewy and the baguette was burnt.

The potato skins were nice, a bit burnt and at Ā£8 for essentially 1 potato with cheese it’s a massive rip off.

The fries were fantastic and perfectly salted and crispy.

As for the service, we were seated and attended to really quickly and the waitresses were mostly professional but one of them threw the plate down on the table which I found quite rude. I also got the vibe that it’s a very local place and if you’re not a local then you’re almost not welcome, and don’t get the friendly service that the locals get.

Not worth the money at all...

This experience was unlike any other... Mainly for personal reasons but I'll tell you anyways.... It was our last night in Scotland and I wanted to go to a cute picturesque pub unlike anything we can get in Canada. We spent £25 to taxi here from our hotel and realized that it's not Scottish at all. But AMERICAN FOOD. Man was I disappointed... Either way, the place itself was quite gorgeous inside and indeed what I was searching for. My mistake for not realizing the menu was American ahead of time... I ended up getting the only UK thing on the menu, haggis and mash. It tasted amazing and I promise I'm not squeamish but it ended up coming back up....

Temperature checked upon arrival along with contact tracing details. All precautionary measures taken by staff which made for reassuring first impressions. Hand sanitising machines also situated around the premises. Problems ordering through the in-house App however we were provided with menus as an alternative. A lot of variety on the menu led to a difficult choice, We eventually ordered from the set price menu, the Sunday roast was delicious and the cheesecake rounded off a perfect meal. Hoping to return soon and would definitely recommend.
