Nice restaurant with a nice atmosphere and decor. Not a bad lunchtime menu at all and the burgers are great. Took my other half with my daughter for a meal at dinner time and we have previously visited for lunch. Tonight they didn't have any rump steak or burgers which was disappointing. No concessions by way of apology made on the set menu. I had the koftas and my wife had the garlic mushrooms to start. My koftas tasted really fresh and well seasoned. I could have done with another couple of koftas though to be honest at £5.50. My wife wasn't too impressed with the garlic mushrooms or the bread on the side. She felt that it was a bit under seasoned. I had the lasagna with a side salad. I enjoyed the lasagna itself again to my taste there was a fair bit of flavour. The side salad tasted fresh but was really just lettuce, a couple of slices of tomatoe and a bit of dressing. If I ordered it again I would have had the chips. My wife had the chicken, leek and mushroom pie. She said again it was a bit bland and was more cream than flavourful. We ordered dessert. I had a cheese board which was pleasant but it wasn't as generous as other cheese boards I've had in the area and for a pounds less too. The saving grace was the number of crackers but could also have done with more chutney. My wife had a chocolate brownie but she wasn't overly impressed as she said it wasn't as sweet as she would have expected. She felt that it was almost like a diet or low sugar brownie but wasn't advertised as such. She enjoyed the ice-cream. I would say overall it was a bit disappointing this time around. we would normally have ordered a burger or steak but they did not have any available. For what it was it was a bit overpriced and portion sizes weren't as generous as we expected from our experience ordering from the lunch time menu. Our daughter is also 5 months old and there were no baby changing facilities available here. The staff were friendly and accommodating to the point I would call it family friendly just without baby changing facilities. My wife breastfed while we were in with no issues at all. I wouldn't rush back but wouldn't avoid the place either.

What a wonderful pub. Cozy, comfortable, great vibes and beautiful decorations. Friendly staff (shoutout to Jane for great service) Guinness was lovely and the paloma cocktail was absolutely fantastic!! For starters, we enjoyed fried camembert cheese and chorizo(really well made&juicy), for mains we had the signature burger which was super juicy and smokey, we also enjoyed turkey roast - the best turkey I've ever eaten! Super moist, tender and fall apart, all the traditional sides were amazing. Everything was seasoned really well! Mini puddings were outstanding, the bakewell tart was incredible - luscious custard!! And mini brownies - super rich, gooey inside and very cocoa driven. Absolutely worth visiting!!

I can not fault this place! Lovely atmosphere, amazingly helpful and lovely friendly staff (Jane and Sophie), and the food was so good my boyfriend was scrapping the last of his mac and cheese off the plate ❤️. Not only this, they are amazing with allergies. I have a diary allergy and had several options where in most places I would only have 1 or 2. And they had VEGAN CUSTARD!!! They even have a person they said who comes and checks their allergy system is up to health standards. Amazing!! Could not recommend this place enough to anyone looking for a bit to eat or a dinner out with a loved one or family. 5 stars for all!! Vegan and veg options are avaliable.

We have visited this place many times in recent years, but today I thought it high time I submitted a review. Certainly it makes a nice change to have a recent pub next door to a popular hotel chain. My colleague and I visited this evening and had a lovely dining experience.the moment we entered we were greeted with a smile from the courteous manager, no hanging around. The pub itself is nicely decorated, almost quite homely. Note, I cannot comment on the toilets as I didn't visit the convenience. The menu was nicely varied without being cumbersome. They are known for their pies which have been good in the past. However they only had one left which was a disappointment considering it was only 7pm. Prawn cocktail as a starter was pleasant, not to sweet with decent prawns. Lasagne for main was nice. Possibly lacking on mince, but definitely enough to fill a weary traveller. All in all, quite standard fare. Very nice but nothing to knock your socks off. The huge difference which sets this establishment apart is the staff. The ones we met, all very good, but our server Emmy was absolutely delightful. Engaging, humerous and very attentive without being over bearing. Certainly knew the menu well and was very helpful. It just goes to show, an establishment, be it a pub, restaurant or roadside cafe, is only as good as the staff. In this case they have done...

Lovely place and good service but the food was extremely disappointing (and not cheap!!). The starters were fine but I had the sea bass as my main and it was disappointing - the fish looked like it had been cooked on both sides which made it a bit dry, the sauce was lukewarm and the potatoes felt like they had been lying for a while and were also not particularly hot (the broccoli was virtually raw but unfortunately that seems to be the way these days!). The dessert sounded fabulous on the menu but was nothing like the description and was very sweet and sickly, the chocolate filling was very thick, the white chocolate "dome" was orange coloured and was more of a ball (I actually thought it was plastic until my partner broke into it!!). I decided to have a liqueur coffee which when it came was cold and didn't taste like it had any liqueur in it - the waitress replaced it and it wasn't any better. I think the coffee was so bitter it cancelled put the liqueur. In between all this I had a Bacardi and coke to drink and bought a bottle of coke intending to have another but when we went to order the second one they had run out of Bacardi!!!! Add to all this that there was no lamb and there was no banana Choux pastry dessert (which would have been my partner's choice). The bill was just short of £90 so it was an expensive...
