The Fluke — Restaurant in Scotland

When i enter, i so traditional scottish atmosphere. Curtains, carpets, chairs and walls was with tartan elements.

Before my visit, i checked menu in Google but when i come it is was completely different. 80% meals was spicy with chilli and jalapeno. The Big question, how often the menu are change?

I sad down opposite sunny window and i ordered Sweet potato fries, Baked vegetable lasagne served with small salad and Coffee latte.

Coffee latte was medium (too much milk and less coffee, i felt like i drinking just milk).

Sweet potato fries was tasty.

Vegetable lasagne was burned. I started try it and waitress come to me with question, do i like everything? I showed how much it is burned, so she got it back and i waited for new one. When i have got new one it is was the same burned but less. I started eat it. I have to say here, even though it was burnt again, the taste was excellent. I threw away the burnt and ate everything to the last drop.

Nice scottish atmosphere, kind barmen and waitress but for food i can not give more then 3 stars.

I like this place, i will back.

SECOND VISIT. I was today second time and sadly i have to downgrade from 3 stars to 1 star.

I ordered - Crispy coated halloumi fries, Onion rings and Cheddar mac & cheese served with garlic butter bread.

In menu halloumi fries are served with garlic mayonnaise dip but i have got with hot chilli dip. I showed it is waiter and he change it. Second, it is price. For 5 not big halloumi fries and some of mayonnaise i have paid 4.79£! This is a robbery in broad daylight. And it is was not tasty. So for what this price?

Onion rings was tasty but they was dirty. Onion rings was with small black pieces after frying pan and i sited and cleaned it.

And last, simple pasta with cheese was the same burned. Was not tasty. Pot was too warm and waiter did not inform me about it.

In conclusion, this may be a good place to relax with a glass of cold beer, but...

It seems this should normally be a great place to eat; photos and online reviews definitely suggest that. Unfortunately when we tried today, it was not possible. Arriving around 4.30pm, we were told that all tables in the restaurant area were reserved and directed to the bar area with the drinks we had already bought. We sat at a table in the bar and looked at the menus (which were on all tables). After about 10 minutes an employee approached and abruptly informed us that there was no food service in the bar area today due to staff shortage in the kitchen, but only in the restaurant area (which was supposedly fully booked, although virtually no one was there shortly before 5pm). While finishing our drinks prior to leaving to eat elsewhere, we watched plates of food being delivered to customers on another adjacent table... For what it was worth, I asked why... and was told that they had ordered an hour ago (it was implied but not stated that that was before the decision had been taken not to serve food in the bar area)...

I can understand the staff shortage problem, as it's common everywhere at the moment; the problem is how it was communicated to us. Why were menus still on the tables? Why did no one ask us when we arrived and ordered drinks whether we also planned to eat so they could tell us right away that it was not possible? Poor management of the situation caused us to feel highly dissatisfied, and had it been handled correctly, we would have accepted it without being annoyed. We had walked some way to eat at this establishment, due to the excellent comments online and appealing looking menu, and, with nowhere else in the immediate vicinity, it was annoying to be made to feel...

Was in today 26th of September 2025 for a late breakfast early lunch I ordered a mega mixed grill at a glance food looked brilliant however upon cutting into my chicken breast I discovered it was pink that’s right it was still raw I immediately informed staff they did look horrified they came over and took my plate away two seconds later they came back with the same plate that the raw chicken was on and gave me the plate back apologised said they would bring the chicken out when it was cooked for me that was it the thought of eating food that had raw chicken on two seconds prior was enough to put me off my food we also ordered a gammon steak meal which we are sure wasn’t cooked properly either been before food was good clearly gone downhill since we were last in I personally won’t be back currently at home with a very sore upset stomach wouldn’t recommend and seeing as you pay before you eat they didn’t give a toss I’ve eaten in many places that have either removed the meal that has had an issue with it and let us pay for the good food or they have gave everyone something on the house for example a drink or a desert now that doesn’t fix the issue but it does show they actually care about their customers giving the competition in that industry keeping a customer is key to a...
