This establishment is divided into two sections. One side is the bar, the other is the restaurant. The bar is a little noisy but it was a Friday night. So we came into the restaurant and found it to be a lovely place. Staff were really friendly, the meals were delicious and everything was really cheaply priced. If back up in Scotland my fiancé and I will definitely call in here again. Highly recommend.

Service was excellent. Food was okay but portion sizes not so good for the price, needed more chips and more veg. The steak pie was not a pie, it was steak stew with a hat.

Does not even merit a rating!! Should be ZERO!! Booked for Christmas Dinner with the family, the food.... I can easily say that I had better school dinners!! The soup was bland, coloured water with added vegetables. My meal was the only one out of 8 meals served that was edible, 6 mains of roast beef which was predominantly fat and gristle, gravy tasted bizarrely of mint, and the roasted veg.... Was raw and swimming in grease. So much so that my Aunt had an IBS attack whilst eating, deserts were probably passable at best. The waitress looked uncomfortable clearing almost full plates of food, something was lost in translation when we said we couldn't eat the food. Bill came, charged an adult price for my 7 year old son and had no knowledge of anything wrong with the food although the gentleman we were speaking to about it had already told us that he would let the chef know. We informed him that we had heard the table directly behind us complaining about the exact same thing (they left after the main course) he basically called my wife and sister a liar saying they hadn't, even though we heard them complain!! Diabolical customer service, much on a par with the quality of food served. £316 paid for the privilege of this debacle of a meal, we received £50 back, asked for more money back and this was refused as only one meal was returned. A total disgrace from...

This was a very poor experience, with poor quality food and poor service. We'd booked last minute, and were looking forward to a nice meal on the last night of our long weekend away.

What we got was mostly frozen ingredients - a Sunday roast where the only thing that didn't look like it came from Aunt Bessie was the honey roast ham (which was nice), and vegetable fajitas where the vegetables were... the same frozen mixed veg that came with the roast, rather than the peppers, onions and mushrooms you'd expect. Not to mention that I had to ask for the decidedly anaemic Yorkshire puddings that were supposed to be included with the Sunday roast.

On top of that, the service was poor. I'd already ordered my apple crumble with the main course, and yet the table next to us received theirs before us despite ordering it afterwards. When I asked about my pudding, I still had to wait, and it was served with all the aplomb of pizza dough being slapped onto a kitchen surface.

To add insult to injury, the bill came with a pint of Tennants and a lemonade that we hadn't ordered. It was duly corrected, but I can safely say that we won't be visiting the Golden...

We visited the Golden Pheasant a week ago and really enjoyed our time there. The staff were very accommodating and welcoming, giving me, my partner, baby (with pram), massive dog and elderly parents a quieter corner of the bar to settle into. They even had a dog-bed there for our big chap to lie on. We all ordered a main, my partner and I getting the fried fish. It was exceptionally well cooked; we frequent the Anstruther Fish Bar and thought the quality was equitable to this award-winning restaurant. The venue itself was a fairly ordinary village pub with basic tables and chairs, but we weren't looking for a restaurant; just a local, good quality wee place for an afternoon meal. The clientele busied themselves enjoying a Rangers match on the TV in the premises, but were themselves also very friendly, complimenting our dog and baby; one man even gave us £20 spontaneously for having a baby! Overall a good experience; we'll be...
