The Keiller Brasserie — Restaurant in Scotland

The Hilton Craigendarroch is located just as you leave Ballater. It is set in a peaceful and serene highland setting complete with onsite lodges, pool & spa facilities and a great bar/restaurant. After a day of enjoying birthday festivities in the wonderful countryside, I was looking forward to enjoying a hearty meal with all my family in the Keiller Lounge located within the Hilton Craigendarroch.

As we entered the lounge, we were greeted by our waiter (Martin) who I felt looked at us a little funny, he then showed us to our table and offered to take a drinks order straightaway. We had to wait a little while for another family member to arrive so kindly declined and got settled in but he came back once again asking if we would like a drink, luckily our fifth person had just showed up at this point. After taking a look at the food menu, we then had a really friendly girl take our order, most of our party had the fish & chips or burger and chips which were delicious and well deserved after a day of wandering around Balmoral and the surrounding area.

Martin then came round to make sure everything was okay and wished me a Happy Birthday which was nice of him but still felt we were made to feel like outsiders but since it was my birthday I didn’t let it get to me. We all then had a spot of dessert which consisted mainly of sticky toffee pudding which was delicious. Our evening meal here was absolutely FANTASTIC the food was really nice & the dessert was delicious. The staff are extremely friendly, helpful and accommodateing especially with the various questions and requests I had due to our dietary requirements.

My wife loved the seabass & I enjoyed the breaded Haddock. The dessert was absolutely delicious. I relished each bite of the Dark Belgian Chocolate Cake with ice cream. (see attached pictures)

Bad experience today. Really bad service from evasive waiters who avoided common manners and eye contact, and chatted among themselves at the bar while making us wait too long for food and drinks. No thank yous at all from our waiter, even when we paid, he just avoided our gaze and turned away. He seemed uncomfortable seeing 2 guys dining together. We asked him why he didn't acknowledge us and he just shrugged his shoulders and blamed us even though we had said please and thank you to him repeatedly.
