Our coach group was allowed access to a closed for the cafe the afternoon, where soup and sandwiches were available. A rare treat for most, but for myself I skipped lunch to explore the small village of Pirnmill. From the picture attached, I found a large stone to add to my collection from around the world. There is also a stream here, a nice surprise for me as it is the first time I've discovered the end flowing into the sea, liken to the end of a rainbow. There is also a beautiful war memorial garden, which I imagine the many hitchhikers have stopped at and sat down to remember. There is also a post office next door and ice lollies were big sellers that day the shop inside. Beautiful and wonderful day to visit such a picturesque village. Visit and enjoy.

very comfortable restaurant, good location (located on a main road). our service (we came for dinner) was lovely, the two women who run the dining room were very kind and efficient. the food was amazing, simple concept but well-done, almost as if your mother made it! I ordered the slow-cooked beef and others at my table had lamb, salmon, and cod. All were delicious. Highly recommend for anyone who needs a tasty, warm meal.

Called in today unexpectedly as we passed by. We are so pleased we did. The menu was brilliant and suited everyone. We didn’t really know what we wanted going in but we came away completely satisfied. 10/10 recommend.

Waited over 2 years to visit The Lighthouse and was very disappointed. The main course of lamb had plastic in it. I called the waitress who could not apologise enough for the error and took my plate away and asked if I would like anything else, I replied no just waive the main course bill. A few moments later, I was asked to go see the chef. To my surprise the chef was quite abrupt and told me I should complain to the chef and not the waitress (wife) and then showed me the plastic that was on my plate and he said 'it wont kill you', and I replied 'you shouldnt serve plastic in meals'. Not one word of apology from the chef....disgraceful. If there is a problem with your food, you have a right to say something. I wondered later why the chef did not come to the table, it is because I was in a party of 15. Good luck to the rest of...

I have been to the Lighthouse twice, most recently last Friday. I went there the second time, hoping to prove my impressions from the last time wrong. I didn't, they showed a consistent performance. Their customer service and food is evenly matched, that means bland. I could accept indifferent customer service if the food matched the lovely location. Unfortunately the food is very bland as well. I had the venison both times I visited. On both occasions I was thinking I would have done better myself. No seasonings or spices, so even though the meat itself looked excellent, it had no taste. The same applied to the watery sauce and the new potatoes. The highlight of the meal was the red cabbage. £25 for red cabbage does not seem right.

If you still want to go, remember to bring lots of your own alcohol. You'll need it

I will not...

Pleasant alternative to Lochranza restaurants. Improvement suggestions: acoustic…

Nice restaurant just A FEW STEPS FROM THE SEA, an excellent choice at only 15 minutes drive from Lochranza. The restaurant itself could be a little more characteristic, given the coastal location… anyway pleasant.

But the STRONG SUIT of The Lighthouse is THE SERVICE: they could not have been more kind and helpful! As soon as a sea-view table was vacant, they moved us there; and above all, since we couldn’t eat any sauce or breading, they pleased us by cooking the fish “natural style”.

The only thing we didn’t like was the acoustic… there was a large group that night, and their noise was really loud and annoying... we couldn’t relax, and decided to go away early :-/

Note: bring your own bottle (No corkage charge).

Price per...
