Congratulations my first 1 star review and really deserved. It should actually be zero as I never even got to try your food. We arrived, not many tables, we went to the bar and asked how did it work - do we order at the bar or sit at a table? They asked us to sit down at number 11 and they'll bring menus. The server came over to take the order from the table next to us and didn't give us menus. Another server came over and asked us what we wanted to drink and we asked for menus then. Two tables came in after us and they got their menus and ordered, we still hadn't been asked what we wanted. After 20 minutes I went to the bar and ordered. I'm now waiting for my food and the server that I'd ordered my food off of had walked by our table and the family next to us complained that they were still waiting for there mains. At this point a table that came in after me got given their food. After 45mins of waiting for our fish and chips and lobster and chips, I again went to the bar. I talked to another server who I believe was a supervisor/ manager and mentioned that we've been waiting for our order and if they could please check on it and that people have been served the same dishes we ordered that arrived after us. They said they'll look into it and I went back to my table with my ravenous partner while we await our meals. After 5 minutes the supervisor comes to us and says that they hadn't put the order through and they'll get it to us soon and left. We had been in the Lobster Pot for over 90mins at this point and after discussing with my partner decided to leave. I went to the supervisor and said to cancel the order. I went to the ladies and on my return to the table, my partner was standing at the door. Turns out another server came up to my partner who was getting his coat on and said 'Ah, your leaving, great cause we're double booked' and proceeded to put these people at the table so my partner was just at the door holding all my stuff. We were in there a total of an hour and 40mins and never got our food, multiple servers made mistakes, another couple came in and they had to ask a server to get the used old glasses off their table. It's the worst service i've ever witnessed and my partner and I were left ravenous. Service =1/10 and food...

Lovely restaurant, great themed decor, unfortunately 5 people ordered the fish at my table only to be told 10 minutes later there were only 2 fish servings left. So had to re check menu, 2 stayed with fish. 2 had the burger and I thought well it's the lobster pot restaurant so I will up my order and try the half lobster and 8oz sirloin, their most expensive and signature dish........ To sum up, The beer battered fish was delish and well worth a try, pity they had ran out at 1300hrs. The burgers were great but spoiled with a rather runny coleslaw which made the brioche bun bottom very soggy. Bad coleslaw choice there guys The sirloin steak was great along with proper fried mushrooms as in quite a few and great chunky chips with a lovely fresh salad. Alas, and a big disappointment was the half lobster served with the steak. I was presented with the robust claw crackers and lobster pick utensils however had no need for them as there were no claws or legs to use them on. It was lobster but a poor small half without any picky bits. My standard fork managed to scrape out three small tasters and it was done. Very disappointed given the name of the establishment. Also two versions of chips arrived on our 5 servings. Nice and chunky fluffy chips and then quick fry thin soggy fries. The place was extremely busy, staff doing there best to keep up, the kitchen was obviously overwhelmed and under stocked and staffed. Will we try again, yes one more chance, after all the previous good reviews but we felt really let down in general re the quality served obviously in a rush under pressure. Hopefully this relatively new venture will need my review and at least attempt to live up to the name, the Lobster Pot as opposed to my current thinking of the...

If you're craving seafood with elegance and flavour, Lobster Pot delivers a memorable dining experience. During our visit, we tried the Lobster and Chips (£37.95) and the Brown Bread Seafood Sandwich (£12.95)—both presented beautifully and bursting with freshness.

Lobster and Chips: The half-lobster was served shell-on, delicately grilled with herbed butter and seasoned to perfection. The meat was sweet, succulent, and complemented beautifully by thick-cut, golden chips. The accompanying side salad was fresh and lightly dressed, with lemon wedges and a playful drizzle of balsamic glaze that added a subtle zing. It felt indulgent yet balanced. Thoughtfully, lobster tools and even a lemon-scented wet wipe were provided—excellent attention to detail.

Seafood Sandwich (served 12–3 PM): This was a generous filling of prawns, crayfish, and smoked salmon in a creamy Marie Rose sauce between slices of hearty brown bread. The flavours were rich and satisfying without being too heavy. It was paired with the same thick chips and a crisp salad—excellent value for money at just £12.95.

Ambience & Service: The interior is warm and inviting, with attentive staff and a relaxed atmosphere. We enjoyed a glass of red wine and cider alongside the meal, which paired wonderfully with the seafood.

Verdict: The Lobster Pot excels at delivering quality shellfish and coastal classics with finesse. The prices reflect the freshness and portion size, and both the lobster and sandwich dishes left us impressed. A perfect stop for seafood lovers wanting quality...

We came today to the Lobster Pot, I booked online and was a bit disappointed to go in and receive a table right next to the bar - the waitress offered to move us, but was shouted at by the manager that 'they weren't able to do that' so we accepted the table - it just meant we were right on the path to the wee shop with people coming in past us constantly and also half way through our meal two guys came in and propped themselves up right next to our table - fair enough, there's little bar space, it just meant that we could hear each other's conversation really well. As it was in the shade and near the door to the shop, it was also a very cold table so our food didn't stay hot for long and we were glad we brought jackets in with us, even though it was warm outside. There were tables around us that had been reserved, but no one showed up to take them and we weren't offered to get moved and I was a bit miffed when a couple with no booking turned up and got a lovely table by the window. The food was OK - the haggis fritters were delicious. I had a cheeseburger and it was standard with very little cheese on it. My husband had fish and chips and he said it was nice, but both his and my chips were not fresh. We had apple pie and ice cream to finish. The ice cream was lovely. The service was good - the waitress who served us was lovely and happy to help. Our experience today wouldn't stop us going back and i'd recommend it if I was in Blackness again.

I did my research, planned to walk from Bo'ness to Blackness with my 2 dogs and stop in at the Lobster Pot for food to give my 12 year old rottweiler (a trained therapy dog who works with children with special educational needs) a chance to rest his legs before the return journey. Greeted initially by a friendly young female who was about to make efforts to seat us somewhere. I should stress that the place was nowhere near capacity. It even says on the website "Come in after a walk on the beach and enjoy a cup of coffee, or join us for dinner! We’d love to welcome you!". A sign outside the building states dogs are welcome to the right hand side of the bar. An older lady interrupted and told us pretty coldly there'd be no space for us (1 person, 2 dogs) for at least 90 minutes, then proceeded to lecture me about not booking a table in advance. I was under no uncertain terms that IF I wanted to wait for a table that I was expected to take my dogs away, hang about outside in the cold and damp, and return later so as to not make the place look untidy. Not offered a corner or a seat at the bar where I could order drinks while waiting. Definitely not a warm welcome and will gladly take my custom elsewhere, where dog breed discrimination is not a factor on whether you're likely to be accommodated or not. Looking at previous reviews, it's clear that this place is not as dog-friendly as it makes out to be.
