Visited the Mailcoach today for a very late lunch. There was only around a dozen other diners already in there, but we still managed to get a table close to the roaring log fire, the place is nice and cosy and quite olde world charm, no plastic fantastic furnishing here, thank goodness. The service was good and soon there was a nice chilled pint of Bud and a glass of Chardonnay on the table while we scanned the menu. There was a great selection of meals to choose from, and I was just about to order a steak, when one of the servers brought me to the attention of the Chefs specials on the blackboard, there was Lamb shank with creamy mash and a minted gravy that caught my attention, also, chicken in a cream.pepper sauce with haggis and black pudding and Rosemary potatoes. All the food is cooked fresh, so expect a little waiting time, before you knew it, two large plates of food appeared at the table. The Lamb shank was succulent and melt in your mouth tender, the mash was lovely and creamy and the minted gravy the best! The feedback on the chicken dish was top notch. On being presented with the sweet menu, my preferred choice of sticky toffee pudding was sold out : ( However, I opted for my second choice, the apple crumble and custard, it arrived along with a separate little jug of piping hot custard, the other sweet had ice cream : ) this amazing two course meal left both of us full for the day, che cost including drinks was LESS than £40.00!! Fantastic value for money! I can see myself returning here once a month at these great prices, and good service too!

Went again tonight! Sandra and Dino were really welcoming and helpful! Their food is delicious! Tonight ee had Chicken Balmoral, it was Amazing as was the fish and chips were before which were exceptional. The staff, on all our visits have been really welcoming and helpful. Reasonable prices and fab food! Definitely worth a visit. The haggis bites for starters were great, not been able to manage a desert so far as portions are big! Highly recommended!

Came in for Sunday dinner as hadn’t been here before. Staff were lovely. The restaurant and bar had a lot of character too it, with the old Mailcoach feel. Read they do functions , birthdays and funerals here, within the function suite. Dinner was great. Steak Pie was lovely the gravy sauce was very strong and rich. Recommend this. They also have Gluten Free menu section. As well as a vegan section on the menu too, if people were looking for this.

Dog friendly table booked today for 3pm today . We were returning customers. We left this establishment after 6 minutes utterly disgusted

My two tiny small dogs were in a dog buggy.

Showed to our table by a young girl called Emma .

From the outset she was not welcoming .

We were trying to get seated and get jackets off and my mum lifted one of the dogs out the buggy as she was not fastened in . She put one tiny dog on top of her jacket on the seat and we were in the process of putting her back in the buggy with my other dog. Emma came back and said dogs can’t on the seats. They have to be on the floor or back in the buggy . We tried to explain we were putting the dog back in the buggy with my other dog and that she was in fact on my mums jacket and not directly on the seat. We put the dog back in the buggy and then Emma asked me would the dogs fight. I WAS SPEECHLESS!!!

I firmly told her my little dogs were well socialised and very sweet natured and l would not be bringing them out to a so called dog friendly restaurant if THEY WOULD FIGHT !!

We were not given any time to get settled . We weren’t even given menus!!!

We left and l confronted Emma about her unwelcoming attitude and her highly inappropriate comments . Emma was rude and has no people skills .

I asked to speak with the manager and was told he was not in today .

Emma tried to backtrack and said that she did not mean what she said with her query if my dogs would fight . They are both tiny little things who are little pets . I was told the manager had a a policy that no dogs are allowed on the seats at the table . I told them we had taken the dog out to fix her harness and fasten her back into the buggy with my other dog. She was not directly on the seat she was on my mums jacket for a matter of seconds.

I do not expect, as a customer of a so called dog friendly restaurant to have instructions barked at me by a young girl with no people skills and no manners.

If this the manager’s policy then there should be some signs indicating this. We didn’t have time to even get seated and settled. We were out with 6 minutes and not even offered menus. Poor customer service with shocking staff attitudes.

It’s hardly the Ritz , wooden benches and paper table covers….. joke

We took our custom, money and my very well behaved little dogs elsewhere. Not dog friendly or even...

Very mixed feelings. The staff were great. The food was lovely. The owner has a severe attitude problem. We were in for my sister in laws 40th. About 26 of us in total. Firstly we went to order drinks and the the owner was very door faced. He said we can set up a tab for you all. But as it was different groups we said we will just buy rounds at a time. He let out a sigh and pulled a face.he said "it's a bit of hassle" It's not that difficult. One person orders a round of drinks then pays. This set the tone from him. I don't know what he thinks he is running but the mailcoach is what it is. Pub food, not 1 Devonshire gardens. The people who smoked or vaped not only had to go outside but right to the far end of the car park that is like a Pete bog. So if you smoke or vape please take waders to change into. Felt so sorry for the waiting staff as they were lovely. This used to be a great wee pub. With great food. Now it's like a militant mess hall with rules you woukd expect from a Michelin star resturaunt. £5.30 for a flat pint of tennents is a bit expensive for a place in town let alone the arse end of Baillieston. When we booked we were also told that there was no time limit. Then at 6pm they said we could order our last drink? The place was empty. Literally 10 more people in the full place and he wanted rid of people paying money...
