Lovely café at the end of an eight-mile single-track road overlooking the loch. We spent a peaceful night here in the campervan (£5 donation to be made in the shop). The café is really cosy and also sells some local crafts. The menu isn’t extensive—just one vegan option for breakfast (avocado on toast) and one for lunch (roasted vegetables on bread).

They had one traybake labelled vegan, but it had sold out. The other cakes weren’t labelled, but staff advised that the chocolate and orange one was suitable. Plant milk is available for drinks.

Friendly staff and a beautiful spot—just wish there were some more inventive vegan food options available there.

Edit: Thanks for getting back to me. I did see the soup on the menu, but since it was listed as coming with a cheese scone, I didn’t think it was suitable. I also didn’t know you had vegan cheese available, and it wasn’t mentioned when I was chatting with staff about options.

As I said before, the cakes didn’t seem to be labelled as vegan, apart from the traybake—which had already sold out. A bit clearer labelling or notes on the menu might help show what’s actually available for vegans.

I’m always glad to see vegan choices on a menu, but in this case, they felt like simple options and didn’t have the same creativity as the rest of your menu. Just some honest feedback—I’d really love to see what other vegan savoury options you...

Really upsetting visit today. We have been before and always look forward to visiting. However today the staff were more interested in pandering to the needs of a party of 7, very rude, people who they had no seats available for as they were all taken. After twice asking a French woman and her children if they could move, we were asked to move tables. We were sat eating and drinking but instead of moving a table to the side of the table vacated by the French family, we were asked to move. So we picked up our bags, coats, food, drinks and all our produce purchased from the shop and we were placed near the serving area. As I said, this is a lovely cafe which we always patronise, but that was rude today especially given the rudeness of the entitled party of 7. We have visited before when there were no tables and it was tough. But for the man in the kitchen money was a motivation I think, even though we had spent as much, proportionally. But at least the middle class rudeness got them what they wanted, they didn't even thank us for moving. Not even the offer of a free coffee. Ruined our visit i'm...

We went to TOPO for lunch and just made it by the skin of our teeth (lunch served 12-2, we arrived at about 1.58pm). My husband and I ordered mussels, which were tasty and delicious and came with a hunk of soft, fresh bread and butter for mopping up the delicious white wine and garlic sauce. My son ordered the sausage roll with potatoes and salad, he said it was also very tasty and he would order again. My 9 year old daughter was desperate to try langoustines. The man behind the counter, Nick I think, came over to the table and showed her how to crack the shells and get the meat out. They were sweet and tasty, almost like lobster in taste and texture. The children then both chose a dessert; one opted for a generous slice of chocolate brownie which was so rich that she was defeated and shared it with us! My son had a millionaire slice which he assures us was gorgeous. We had 5 drinks between the 4 of us too and the total cost was around £45. Totally worth it! In summary, amazing local seafood and delicious cakes with a warm welcome. Would definitely recommend and visit...

We had a lovely brunch at The Old Post Office. We each had a coffee and both chose smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on muffins which was superb, absolutely faultless! The coffee was also good and the ladies working there were super friendly and made us feel right at home. I've knocked just one star off the food rating only based on the cakes which were good, rather than great or brilliant. A nice selection though and the shortbread was decent. The location is of course beautiful, though even as a confident driver, I found the long drive down the side of Loch Buie to reach The Old Post Office a little tense, though the amusing signs on the road "nearly there" and such like kept me going! We're glad we visited and would return when we go back to Mull.

What a fantastic location this little gem occupies. Overlooking one of the nicest loch views on the island. The cafe is small and if the weather is poor there’s no a lot of seating inside. We were lucky that the sun was beating down and pretty much all the outside seating was occupied. If you can’t get a bench you could always just sit on the pebbly beach to enjoy both the view and your lunch. They stop serving lunch at 2 so get there in plenty of time as it’s quite a long drive from almost everywhere.
