We are in the area having a Long Weekend at Riverview and decided to pop in to the Olive Tree for some Lunch today. We were certainly not disappointed, Amazingly Warm Welcoming from the Lady behind the Counter who Greeted and Seated us, No long waits for Food or Drinks and was served promptly. My Partner had the Cheese & Ham Panini and I had the Breakfast Both were Fantastic and well presented. Amazing little Cafe with Great Staff and Great Options for food. We unfortunately didn’t grab a Dessert however they look fantastic at the counter and we regret not picking one up - Maybe next time.

Wow wow wow, this place in a little village is amazing, the food is stunning and all homemade, we found this on our way back from Hermitage Castle and how lucky we was. We both had the panini, ham & cheese and haggis &cheese, we also got a couple of cakes to takeaway as it would have been rude not to since they was all homemade, prices are very good for the food you get, if you are going to Hermitage Castle stop here you won't be disappointed

We stopped here while on our way to the Hermitage castle! There are so many sweet sins to choose from, but we decided to go for the apple tart and the rum truffle! Both were delicious! The coffee was strong and gave us the boost that we needed! There is also outside sitting for those rare sunny days! Come early as this is a favourite place among locals and visitors alike!

The Olive Tree is now our go-to place after hill walking by Newcastleton; both for coffee or a meal. The menu isn't too busy but provides a great choice, this includes whatever is on the chalk board as a daily special. For us, the food has been without exception, of fantastic quality - well prepared and cooked and I'm fairly certain made with locally sourced ingredients where possible. Staff are lovely, very helpful and it is actually a very nice place to sit and eat - nice layout and decor. I think the steady stream of locals coming into eat/ have coffee is a good indicator too. The staff know their regulars (I established this through careful eavesdropping) but in no way does it feel like a community centre! I can recommend this eatery...

Popped into the Olive Tree while passing through the village there.

My wife, daughter and I all had sandwiches with various cakes for afters. We also had coffees and highly recommend this cafe.

The staff were very helpful and chatty, the food was lovely and very filling at a fair price.

We called in again on our return trip 5 days later and again we were very happy with our food.

My wife particularly recommended the rum truffle...so much so she went back and got another one.

One small snag is its not dog friendly which we totally understood as some owners let theirs do what they like.

It would have been nice to sit in rather than take away due to us having our dog. Having said that we'd...

Absolutely fantastic little place, found purely by accident whilst riding through Newcastleton. Great access for parking at the front (especially for motorbikes as they take no space) and lovely amount of seating both inside and out. The weather meant it was an inside job. Sat at a 2 seater table but with the amount of kit we had, ended up moving to a 4 (sorry for messing you about!). Our order was taken quickly and the food brought out just as fast. Lovely breakfast, and really nice panini. The applewood smoked cheddar is gorgeous with the chutney! Priced very well, payment options include both cash and card. Very friendly staff, would...
