Excellent fish and chips. Living in Scotland we get to experience fish and chips everywhere so the bar is a bit high when it comes to evaluating fish and chips.

For this one. A. The oil didn't feel/smell/taste old/overused. B. It was crispy yet light, you could've fault the batter. The fish itself was done just right, not under or over cooked. C. Salt and Vinegar were present on the table, so you could use desired quantities. D. There was ketchup, mayo and chippy/brown sauce (its a Scottish thing) present, so you can help yourself to that. F. The fries were equally good matching the quality of the fish.

The price is slightly on the higher side, even compared to Edinburgh fish and chip shops. But then this was somewhat of a hybrid between a chippy shop and a restaurant. Let's call it an upmarket chippy shop. By restaurant standard the price is decent.

But in the end with the quantity and quality it was worth it. And would be happy to recommend and revisit.

We ordered 2 standard fish n chips meals, and as you can see they came with a small extra to the side. The portion is a decent size and you won't be left hungry. But it's not the largest, as our plates were absolutely clear by the end. So if you are a big eater consider a size up, unsure what they add to that one but probably more chips or both.

Ams this has to be my lengthiest review ever :)

But I liked the food and the staff member who kindly took my order using an inside table number whilst I waited for a table outside. So yes 10 points for the staff politeness and how accommodating they were.

So I thought to write a nice long review to...

I was travelling from the central belt of Scotland for a work trip, and was finishing up in Loch Lomond before heading west.

I stopped off for a snack, burger and chips en route to Oban. I've been a bit over the years and always such a pleasure, both the staff and guests are full of smiles. Many walkers use this stop, as does driver's. It's ideal with good parking, somewhere to clean your walking boots and a bowl of water for the dogs!

There is a fantastic selection of local Scottish produce and freshly prepared foods, in an open kitchen. The team is really positive and helpful, and were all keen to make sure I was made to feel welcome and comfortable.

I ordered food and sat outside, enjoying the evening sunshine, what a treat. The food was served quickly and I had a refillable cup, although never went more than one.

The toilets onsite are literally award winning and kept very clean and tidy too, makes a big difference, especially when there are so many visitors coming through their doors.

En route back from Oban, it was a stop for coffee and snack, again served with a smile and a really nice coffee too. Their selection of local products and Scottish produce is amazing and credit to the owner and team 👏

A big thanks to the team for the welcome and I hope it won't be too long till I return. This time it was just me travelling as on a work trip, but I'll bring our family. I know there's a local Gruffalo trail we found in Tyndrum, and this is ideally located for a visit to the Real Food Cafe and makes part of...

We are customers of the Real Food Cafe since many years as we are living nearby. Till mid of last year the service was overwhelming and the food was fine. Unfortunately it changed within the last months - this applies to both the food and the service. We weren’t satisfied the last times we were there but hoped it would only be a matter of day. But we were wrong! Two days ago we visited RFC again and it even got worse! No friendly Hello when entering - no warm welcoming at all. Not even a single smile of one of the service staff members. We ordered our dinner but had to wait over 30 mins to get it. The Hot Smoked salmon salad didn’t look appetising: The piece of salmon consisted only of crumbled away small pieces. There were only 2 more than thin cutted small onion rings as well as 2 also more than thin cutted small tomato slices. All was placed on Green salad with a table spoon full of Cole slaw. Till last year there also was served couscous with this order. The salmon unfortunately was totally oversalted. The double cheeseburger wasn’t done but still bit of raw inside. But parking was good as there was only a handful of cars! So our decision is now final - this was our last visit at the RFC. The quality of the food has declined a lot, the friendless of the staff has gone and for that what is offered it’s totally overpriced! Obviously it is time to...

Real Food Cafe: Speedy Service & Easy Access (if Great Green welley is busy - Alternative!) Looking for a quick and convenient bite after a long journey? Look no further than Real Food Cafe! Here's why it beats Green Valley Cafe: Easy Breezy Parking: Ample parking makes getting in and out a breeze, unlike the often-crowded Green Valley. EV-Friendly: For eco-conscious travelers, they offer a reliable EV charging station, a big plus! Fast & Fresh: Their service is quick, perfect for a pitstop. The menu features delicious fried seafood options with chips – perfect for a satisfying meal. Dietary Options: They cater to dietary needs with a growing gluten-free selection. Spacious Seating: Recently expanded seating allows for comfortable sit-down lunches. In Summary: For a fast, convenient, and hassle-free meal, Real Food Cafe is the clear winner. Their easy access, ample parking, reliable EV charging, and focus on speed make it a great alternative to Green welley Cafe. recommended!
