We arrived for a week in Longniddry on a Friday evening. We thought we'll have a few drinks here. Looked like a pleasant and friendly place. We weren't wrong ! Nice staff, warm welcome with a relaxed atmosphere. Its bigger inside than it looks from the outside. We were impressed. All ages would be ok here, not a rowdy place, mainly people enjoying food or sitting chatting. Lots of good looking dishes being served, we can't comment on food, except was being well received from the customers, will definitely indulge on our next visit, as we had eaten earlier. Not a huge menu, but all classics are there and offers a good variey, Scottish haggis spring rolls with clapshot and whisky sauce. Mmm!! 😋 Love it when I see haggis on the menu everywhere here !! Cocktails and beers, gd selections and nice deserts too on the menu. Will be back to try food soon. 👍 x May 2024: We have now tried the food, Would recommend the Thai fishcakes with red chilli jam, very flavoursome, this was a starter and I had another starter of Haggis Wellington with clapshot and whisky sauce. Nicely cooked and presented, needed more pepper and spice for me .. but each personal preference varies. My husband had a burger, but thought he'd picked the veggie option and would have like a meaty version. Next time we can try their homecooked pies, which are said to be worth it. 👍!!

What an amazing place. Cherise served us and although we had not been there before as we are from South Wales she was a breath of fresh air. So jolly and nothing too much trouble. The food is cooked fresh and home made. The steak pie with gravy was the best I have eaten and the veg and mashed potato were delicious. My grandson had chunky chips with his pie and the chips were not frozen but fresh potato chips. We cant wait to return before we travel home. Also they do gluten free food as my husband is a ceoliac. Compliments to the chef

Good drinks and great selection but massively disappointed about the food. Almost £16 for most item on the menu evens the Sunday roast but it you can see and taste it’s frozen just reheated with small amounts pre prepared in the kitchen I never been left still hungry after a Sunday roast, frozen Yorkshire pudding, roast no better, small amounts of veg and meat definitely not fresh You can see why the place only had 3 groups of people in from 12-1:30 and we were one of them

1 Star is even pushing it! I am writing to highlight the unacceptable service we, as well as many others, received on Christmas Day, 2021.

Our family booked the Seaglass for our Christmas Dinner and arrived a little after 1pm for pre dinner drinks. Dinner was booked for 2:30pm. On arrival I asked the owner, face to face, whether they had suffered from any cancellations due to Covid and she said they were still fully booked to the extent many others were calling Christmas Eve looking for availability.

As we were in festive spirit we were enjoying the afternoon until things started to go wrong. After asking the limited staff and the owner, on several occasions, for our canapes, these eventually arrived around 3:30pm. This was not ideal given the fact that we had two children with us. Further disappointment was to come. It took a further 45 / 50 minutes to then serve us our starter. At this point we were becoming aware of raised voices and disappointment elsewhere in the premises and folk actually began to leave. We all spoke to the owner and staff on several occasions, voicing our disappointment whilst waiting for our main course. We were promised it in 7 minutes, then 10 minutes, then a further 15 minutes until I again had to speak with the owner. The time was now 5pm and the manager then professed to kitchen staff shortages and said they were a chef down. She then asked that we give them the chance to redeem themselves and that our main course would be no more than 15 minutes. I agreed reluctantly.

5:30pm came and went and I spoke to the owner once again, who eventually came out of the kitchen where she was hiding from her responsibilities. It became apparent from all the conversations that they didn't have a chef at all. There was basically a catalogue of disappointment across The Seaglass. Friends we knew managed to persuade the staff to feed the kids. In hindsight they wish they hadn't as the chicken they were served was pink! This was the final straw. We had enough and left.

The Seaglass Inn 100% Ruined Christmas Day beyond anything I've experienced before. We had family travelling from far and wide to enjoy the get together. All arrived at 1pm for our 2:30pm sitting. 5:30pm still waiting on the main course - three hours after our timed service! This is NOT at all acceptable, especially when children are involved. Worst still, we paid £65 per adult head and £20 per child to add insult to injury.

WORST Christmas Day experience ever and ruined our day. The family who run The Seaglass, on behalf of Heineken, are not fit to run such an establishment. They need a proper reality check, especially when promising so much and delivering effectively nothing. Naivety does even cover their lack of restaurant / business / lifestyle / empathy acumen. Disgraceful and awful beyond belief.

Since our awful experience my partner, who booked The Seaglass Inn has subsequently emailed the owner and phoned on several occasions without response - claiming the owner or manager was not available. They are now burying their heads in the sand hoping this will go away. Given the level of anger, resentment and disappointment felt by the majority who were there on Christmas Day, the only appropriate action is to report them for advertising a service which we did not receive. In my opinion this was all about greed and not about providing a service on a day which should be fondly remembered by all. Criminal behaviour.

When I left I told the owner to take our drinks bill from our refund. As yet, we have not heard anything from The Seaglass Inn, let alone received a refund. I had heard from others who have received a refund, which has infuriated me more.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Absolutely shocked and disgusted at what happened tonight . Having been recommended this restaurant I booked a table a week in advance for our first meal out as a family since lockdown and our family meal before we leave the area kids were so excited. My son also is a newspaper reviewer and we told them in advance that my son was going to complete a review of his experience and we were all excited about coming. WOW. 2 many issues to even go into. Arrived at 6.30pm to be asked if we were only booked in for drinks. There seemed to be confusion over this as it looked like they didnt have us in. Didnt get starters until 8pm. Then delay again with main meals. All meals came out separate. My mother didnt get her main course until 9.15pm and as she didnt hav a starter she was absolutely starving. The Steak pie eventually came pie was dry not enough gravy. Carrots were hard uneatable. Mash was tasteless packet mash. Manager said it's supposed to be al dente.... Joke!!. Lamb curry had no sauce and was dry! advertised as came with homemade flat bread which was actually a warbutons thin. After so many complaints and conversations with numerous staff things still were not resolved. Esp waiting for extra 45mins for sauce for the lamb curry so they expected me to pour hot sauce over a cold curry !!?? We asked to speak to the manager who kept disappearing and is not a manager at all. She did not take control of the situation and provided no reassurance or apology. The staff were all so cheeky it was unbelievable. To wait this long for food this bad was a disappointment. We demanded not to pay for the meals we didnt eat. Not once the offer of a free drink. The staff attitude stinks. Was told the owner was the managers mum. Well I think she needs to have a look at her daughters ability as she is not a manager and has no idea how to be a manager. Will...

Dear me. I noticed someone else saying they felt an inconvenience and they hit the nail on the head. We arrived and the place had 2 other groups in - think they were about 8 people tops at that point. We were a group of 7 and after asking 4 times and being told "you're the next table" twice, our food came out over an hour later. We ordered three burgers, one risotto, prawns starter, lamb curry and the chicken. Risotto came out first(!!) and prawns last. The service was absolutely appalling. Apparently they were a chef down but all they needed to do was tell us there was a delay before we sat down so we could chose. Appreciate and love they cook from scratch but over hour to cook a burger and plate 5 prawns? I suspect the order was forgotten and they didn't want to tell us. We asked to see the manager and was told she was too busy. We were then offered £10 off the bill for our inconvenience. Not even a "I'm so sorry, this is unusual we so appreciate your patience." The manager did eventually come out but still no apology. We did in the end get three drinks removed which was just over £10 but not sure they realized it was the gesture, not the ££ we were after. Just acknowledge that it wasn't a great experience. One of the waitresses kept apologising but we really felt that we were getting in the way of the evening they were having.

We're tourists, we're not going to go back, we wouldnt recommend anyone going there, we're not going to cost them business and they probably thought we were just whinging visitors. But if you go, please ask how long the service time is....
