I've been going to the Sun Inn for years and as usual the food was perfect and it's a really nice location to go for breakfast on the weekend which is what I went for. Unfortunately, the last few times I've been I've noticed the service hasn't been great and this time was the worst. I met the rest of my table for 10.30, we had booked a so were seated quickly and brought our drinks fast but had 3 separate members of staff come to take our order which in hind sight was like a bad omen for the meal and made it seem like there was maybe a lack or communication or organisation but not a big deal. However after receiving our teas and drinks immediately we were left and didn't see any staff for over and hour. During this time it was a little busy but nothing more than I have seen in the past. It was 11.50 by the time our breakfast was brought out with no word from any of the wait staff. Luckily we weren't in too much of a rush and were happy to have a chat but by the time our food came all of our drinks were finished so we had to then order more. As mentioned, the food is lovely but it was practically lunchtime by the time it came out! We also ordered a few traybake/brownie type things which I feel could have benefitted from being under some kind of cover as even though they were tasty, they were all kind of dry from being left open on the bar- some signs or labels as to what each of the items was would be nice too to make it easier to order- I have allergies so had to go through each thing with the staff to find out what was in them. The scones were delicious however, the clotted cream it came with had split but was hastily replaced with some butter so not too bad. The only other thing was for the first time, the car park was full so we had to park in the over flow area which is not signposted well at all and quite confusing and looks like an old scrapyard which we were a little concerned about when leaving the car. Overall, not my best experience here but I'll probably give it another go! I understand bad/ busy days and on the whole it was delicious good and we weren't in so much of a rush that the lateness affected our day but its somethingto bear in mind if you are going. Hopefully things are better next time!

Very disappointing indeed. I booked a 10am table for three for a quick breakfast. The waitress took our order at around 10:10 and brought out our coffees. One of my group asked if she could have some cheese through her scrambled eggs only to be told it wasn't possible as everything is made up in the morning. I'd hoped the food would be freshly prepared. After asking twice where our food was, it eventually arrived 45 mins after ordering. There was no apology or explanation, it almost felt like this was normal service here. The party that arrived 25 mins after us got their food just before we left, they must have waited well over an hour. I had scrambled eggs and Salmon which was average but the bread it came on tasted greasy like it had been fried in a pan with something else. Thankfully, we were provided with complimentary toast (no butter) so I swapped the bread over. My two guests said that their breakfast was average. There was also a horrible high pitched noise in the background - almost like a whistling hearing aid. I asked the waiter what it was and could it be turned off. He went to check but the noise continued and the waiter never came back. When we went to pay, the waiter apologised and said the service was not up to their usual standard and deducted the price of our coffees off the bill. (this is why I gave 2 stars) The decor and presentation is nice and the staff are friendly enough but the overall experience was terrible. There were plenty of staff on so I can't fathom why the service was so slow. For our three breakfasts with the cost of our coffees deducted, the total was £24 so averagely priced. Unfortunately, I don't think I will be going back in a hurry.

This review is solely on the restaurant. This was our first meal out with our newborn. We thought we’d come and spend the night £40 voucher we were given. For starters I got the pork belly which I felt was okay but maybe lacking flavour. The noodles and veg that it came with wasn’t the most appetising either. For main I got the monkfish curry which was an improvement. The portion was large and the curry was tasty. The rice was well cooked and the shard that it came with was very crisp and accompanied well with the meal. However, £17 for this curry is very expensive. I suppose they can justify it because of the monkfish. My wife got the fish and chips. She enjoyed it but in my opinion the batter looked too oily and was lacking crisp. Some might say it was wetter than an otters pocket. Chips were okay but required seasoning or dipped into the mayo. Certainly not worth £18 for a fish and chips. For dessert we shared the knickerbocker glory which not bad and again £8 for it is quite steep. The service was great and the facility is lovely. However, my only gripe with it is that the baby changing is in the female toilet. I was planning on doing a change whilst my wife finished her meal but we ended up waiting after being told by a member of staff that it’s in the females. The lady said it will be fine if I go in the females but I didn’t feel comfortable with this. What would single Dads do in this situation? When my wife took her to get changed she commented on how cold it was in the toilet which isn’t a great environment for changing a newborns nappy. Overall it was nice getting out the house but we were left a little disappointed.

Visited this establishment on Sunday afternoon and while the food was passable the service was abysmal. We encountered the following issues -||||1. We ordered pre-nibbles, which was a small slice of bread each, with butter and a dip. We had to ask for a spoon for the dip as they only provided one tray for the bread and one pot for the dip. There was no way everyone could could reach the pot for the dip without a spoon to put some of the dip onto your plate.||||2. Before we had finished the pre-nibbles the main courses arrived at the table. We had to move the pre-nibble plates to the side. We certainly hadn't taken long to eat the pre-nibbles and it would have better if the plates had been removed before bringing the mains to the table. ||||3. We had to ask 4 times for water before a managerial looking person arrived with a bottle of water for us. No apolgy given!||||4. We had to ask for salt and pepper cellars as there were none on our table. We were brought the cellars but we had to ask for another salt cellar as there was nothing in the cellar that they brought. Again, no apology given!||||5. We weren't asked if anyone wanted any condiments, such as sauces or vinegar.||||6. When the plates for the mains were being taken away a knife fell from one of the plates on to the floor. This knife was still on the floor when we left.||||7. After the mains, we ordered 6 coffees. We had to ask for these coffees 3 times before they arrived, more than 30 minutes after we first ordered them. Again no apology received for the delay|||||8. To top it all when we got the final bill a 10% service charge had been added. There was nothing to indicate whether or not this was discretionary and I was going to query it with the staff. Other members of my group didn't want to cause a fuss in the restaurant so we reluctantly paid the service charge.||||9. I sent an e-mail to the establishment through their website detailing the above issues and haven't heard a thing. ||||I certainly think the owner/manager needs to have a good look at the details of the issues we encountered. Good service doesn't seem to something that they take seriously and I certainly won't...
