I was shocked to go into a café in 2025 and find they didn't have a coffee machine of any kind. The best they could do was instant coffee. We considered a toastie or a sandwich for my son, but they didn't have crisps or anything to serve it with. It just seemed like a bizarre business model. Come in for a quick bite, but we'll serve you what you probably have at home so you'd be better off staying there.

The plastic tables and chairs are absolutely not cosy, and the woman who served us went from friendly to downright derisive when I politely asked for a latte - which of course they couldn't do. Really...
