I've been here several times now, and I have to say, the food here is not just the only attraction.

That being said, the food is absolutely incredible, albeit a little more expensive than regular "pub grub", it is, by no means, "pub grub". I'd be happy getting a serving of anything I have ordered from here in a large restaurant in a large city, and that would certainly be much more expensive! The food is phenomenal, the menu is constantly changing, the specials are rather magnificent and, really, don't get me started on dessert... There's a genius toiling away in here, I just know it.

Speaking of genius, that's the other attraction of this quaint bar/eatery. The owner, Brian, is a fantastic person to talk to, to regal stories of past, present and future ambitions, to lose yourself in a pointless debate where neither party is right or wrong, all to wander away happy, and to sink another drink.

I have just moved to Fairlie from living in Millport for far too many years, and while I was trying to find my feet, the owner really made me feel at home. One night, when my girlfriend and I had no microwave, no cooker, no way of heating anything up apart from a kettle, and after around 15 hours of decorating and moving things up 3 flights of stairs, I chanced my luck, and decided to nip in and see if they were still doing food...

This was at half 11... The horror I felt when I was told that they weren't, and not for about 3 hours were immeasurable... I know I was chancing it, but I was exhausted, and wanted to eat a warm meal that evening.

I was just about to count my losses and return back home, when Brian just asked "what is it you would like?", and my wee heart must've nearly exploded. All I wanted was some chicken and some salad for myself and my girlfriend, and he just kept offering us more and more, but I didn't want to take more than I was initially intending on getting, so I stuck with the chicken and salad, and away he went, fired up the friers once again, and back he came with not one, not two, but three portions of chicken (which I, of course, paid for in full) with the third being given to is in a small takeaway box, loaded with a whole 'extra strip' for us to take back home.

This Inn is really rather fantastic, the staff are great. The food is great. The drinks are great. The atmosphere is great.

If you ever find yourself in the vicinity of Fairlie, or you're in Largs and you don't mind a quick, 5 minute journey down to the Fairlie seafront, I'd highly recommend visiting The...

Well if carlsberg did christmas dinners lol! Came for Christmas Dinner yesterday and was totally blown away, food quality and portions were fantastic, attention to detail and service spot on! Been going out for Christmas Dinner for over 10 years now to various hotels and this has been the best by far! Even the wee added touch of the owner thanking everyone for coming during our meal was so lovely. Just a shame we didn't realise years ago they were open and hosted Christmas day dinner. Won't be going anywhere else from now on, it was like a real good home made Christmas Dinner with a real homely feel. Booked again for next year on our way out! Thank you all so much for everything and hope you all got a bit of time to yourselves later to enjoy...

The village inn was a Great find, me my wife and our 3 Yr old son spent the whole day just up the road at kelburn Castle and we were all hungry and shattered by the time we left and chose to come here for some grub, we where not dissapointed. The food was great. My wife had the homemade stake pie and I had the home made chicken and bacon pie, both really nice and the vegetables were fresh cooked not frozen. Our son had the homemade chicken goujons in panko bread crumbs and devoured them. We will definitely be back when we are visiting the area in the future. Staff were very friendly too

My family and I stopped off here on a rainy April day when exploring the coastline, and we were very glad that we did. The food was delicious, and the staff were really friendly. My husband and I highly recommend the steak pie, and my boys really enjoyed their chicken nuggets and chips. The desserts were also delicious! We will definitely be back, and would highly recommend a visit to The Village Inn.
