A light lunch was required after our visit to Corryvhrekann Whirlpools with Seafari Adventures.
We saw Exec Head Chef William, on Masterchef the Professionals and the famous Inn is steeped in history.
Access was great for my disabled friend and I've never seen such space between tables in the new extension restaurant to the side of the original & rustic bar.
The service FOH was good if a little slow and not quite as sharp as the cooking. We waited too long for menus and plates were not cleared when they should. Having said that, all staff were kind and caring and nothing was too much trouble.
The lunch was really reasonable and plenty of local catches as well as meat from local farms. Our burger and fish & chips were great (excepting the frozen peas) when real homemade 'mushy' should have been on the plate. The only other disappointment was the nasty packet sauces offered in a bowl. I suspect Chef would have been unimpressed by this too?
The space was wonderful, rustic wooden furniture in a contemporary setting. The loos were really accessible (except for the 2 children's baby chairs stacked in the lobby making it awkward).
I'm keen to go back for dinner and getting to meet Chef was also a highlight. Well done TnT , you're...
Read moreThere probably isn’t enough space here to express just how lovely the staff at Tigh An Truish are, we were welcomed from the moment we arrived and were guided to our absolutely spotless room. The accommodation was beautifully thought out, well appointed and hard to fault. We were only able to stay one night, but will make a detour (if necessary) to stay again. The location was excellent, remote enough to feel comfortably away from the hustle and hassle of every day life - we met a couple of ‘locals’ who were just as friendly and hospitable as our hosts. The evening meal and breakfast the following morning were some of the best food we had on our trip, but there isn’t one thing that makes this a perfect place to stay: immaculate rooms, comfortable and well thought out decor, great food, stunning location, amazing people. Go a little out of your way and see what makes Tigh An Truish so special - thank you to...
Read moreWe arrived for dinner at 6pm, the hotel has its own car park area and entered via the bar as the dining door was locked. the bar was busy, we enquired about dinner and we were taken through to the dining area and given a window table for two. The room was big, bright and well heated. We were quickly given a menu, water supplied and then drinks order taken. there was a limited choice for starters and mains, but we liked all that we saw. We tested their flexibility by ordering soup and then two starters as a main for one person, I had starter and main. All the food was well served including fresh bread and special butter to try as we waited for our starters to arrive. You can see the bridge over the Atlantic from the restaurant. We were full after the meal and so didn't try a dessert. It is well worth the diversion to come here specifically for...
