Unfortunately, not what it once was. Hopefully they can bring back its old charm. The building is beautiful on the outside but that traditional, cozy feel of the inside has been replaced by the somewhat modern, ordinary look of a pub-chain. None of this would have been a problem if the food had been good. A pulled pork sandwich, which is traditionally served bursting with pulled pork, came with a little less than 3 teaspoons of pork + sauce spread across the baguette like butter. An unacceptable presentation - if they were running low it’s best to say, instead of trying to cheapen out on a paying customer. The curry was pretty good, so great job there. Desserts were ok but didn’t seem homemade. Maybe I’m wrong. I used to love this pub, with the chalkboard full of the day’s offers and the blazing fires. Of course, time moves on and I don’t expect things to always remain the same, but this is a traditional English pub which, on the inside, looks a bit more like a ‘weathers’ these days, with its posters and flyers everywhere and ‘upgrade to a Carling’ offers. Hope to be back...

Worst food I've ever attempted to eat, the mash was frozen the roast potatoes were dry the vegetables were clearly frozen and were so bland from the excessive boiling. The meat was the only thing edible on the plate. Also 10 adults being sat right next to the child's play area was just an absolute disgrace. The children throwing things over a balcony that nearly hit us multiple times. It was by far the worst place I've ever been and I won't be returning. I think if you're looking for a place with character good food and a nice time then I would definitely give the Bootle Arms a wide berth. Not one person in our group was happy with the place or food. Just to clarify when the so called manager came over to see if we were all satisfied with our meals, I do recall that only 3 people replied to them as myself, sister and mother just sat there looking disgusted and our plates went back with practically the whole meal on. I also don't appreciate the comments that the party booked was smaller than the one that turned up but I guess that's how you call out...

Edit* Myself and my girlfriend have been back here a few times since my original review. The service has been great every time and the food has been great! We were served on our most recent visit by Lucy and Hannah, who were great. But all of the staff are! Keep up the good work!

I visited here in February, the food was nice but the service was a bit up and down with some members of our party having had already had their food before some had even been served theirs. However, this was for 20+ of us, so you kind of have to understand that it is tough to accommodate for that many people.

I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and try here again. Me and my girlfriend loved it. We had a Sunday roast each, the food was very nice, the service was great and it wasn't too badly priced.

The pub itself is nice, with a decent sized beer garden and a kids' play area.

We would like to visit again to try different meals as their menu is good with plenty to...

Wow! What a fantastic evening we had for our sons 18th birthday meal! There was 20 of us and we were seated upstairs overlooking the rest of the pub. It was cosy and comfortable and had lovely decor. We spoke with Hannah who looked after us and even set up our tables with balloons and decor that we had brought earlier that day . It was beautiful! Our food was lovely - we all had different meals and they arrived timely. The servers and bar staff were welcoming and friendly :) We where looked after upstairs by Jack - we want to say how made up we are that he looked after us all- friendly , funny, super helpful and made our evening that more special. Nothing was too much to ask for ( thanks Jack 😊) Thank you Hannah and everyone at the bootle arms for making such a core memory treasurable!

Restaurant was empty but you couldn't choose where to sit tried to seat us in a conservatory with lots of families and children when we insisted we wantedto sit elsewhere we were told we could only have the table for an hour! The whole time we there no one else came to dine as the pictures clearly show 2 hours later. The food was cold and overpriced and no one asked us if we were happy with the service/meal just cleared the plates without interaction. Will not return which is a shame just some common courtesy and good customer service goes a long way in the hospitality business. Sadly the Bootle Arms is lacking in both of these traits
