How did I not review this place already? I have recommended this spot to people around the entire country for the last couple of years straight! The people are incredible and the service is insanely quick! Honestly, the combination of great quality food, helpful dietary requirements (like being veggie and having oat milk for decaf tea) and the incredible dog friendly approach makes this one of my favourite pubs in the country. I love 2 hours away and come here whenever I go to Formby beach with the dog. The buttermilk chicken burger is perfectly crispy and the fries are like the ones you get at that place with the golden arches. On a summer's day the vibe outside is really nice and there's a play area for kids too. However, on a cold sunday in November it's still great for Sunday roast and to warm up by the fire. Love love love this place. Will be returning once again with our friends! Forgot to mention that the tea was presented really beautifully and wasn't what I'd expected. Thanks for the lovely treats for the dogs too!

Family had bought us a voucher for our anniversary so we had a lovely meal here.We booked for 5pm which was a great time.Shown to our table straightaway. We both ordered the chicken slider for starters. It was very tasty indeed.I had the lamb and husband the steak. Both meals were excellent. For desserts I had the Eton mess and husband chocolate brownie. Whoever said the portions here were small 🤔They were big meals.I had a bottle of Rose half of which I took home. Also we took home a box of flapjacks. The only thing I would say is there were a few dogs barking at each other. It's no place for a nice restaurant like this.Leave them at home. The nice staff were really attentive and we didn't wait long between courses. All in all a lovely experience not cheap at all but for a treat I would recommend.

We recently dined at The Sparrowhawk, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The service was impressively fast, and the waitstaff were exceptionally friendly and attentive. They really knew the menu well, which made ordering a breeze. Our food arrived hot and quickly, ensuring we didn't have to wait long to enjoy our meal. The waiters never seemed to stop, constantly clearing tables and assisting customers with a smile. Their efficiency and dedication truly stood out. The Sparrowhawk is a pub, but with a fancier twist. It combines the cosy atmosphere of a pub with a touch of elegance, making it a perfect spot for a memorable dinner. Highly recommended!

As a party of 5 we spent Father's Day here for Sunday Lunch. Had a lovely meal and a good service by young lad who was very courteous. Really enjoyed our day until we were paying our bill to a female waitress. We paid mostly in cash with the rest a small amount by card. After counting out the cash between us which also included a tip, she went away. She then returned to say it was short. We challenged her on this as we had all seen how much cash was given in, which also included a £20 tip. She wouldn't have it and told us she had counted it too and we had made a mistake. This was so unpleasant and so was she who insisted it was wrong. We told her we were not kids but 5 professional adults who know how to count. She continued to tell us it was short. She went away and finally came back and informed us that it was checked with another member of staff and it was correct. She said it had been a long day and she had made a mistake. No apology. I told her that she had just spoilt what had been a lovely day for us and she walked away grumpy. Only for the fact that the young lad who served us was so nice and helpful, we felt like taking the £20 tip back but we left it at that until we passed the bar as we were leaving and my husband noticed her bad mouthing us to a member of bar staff. He then went to see the manager and informed him of what had taken place. The whole experience totally...

Lovely venue with good access and parking, good menu although Tdh menu a bit restrictive on choices but fine price wise.

I had Prawn Cocktail to pay homage to my classic pub roots and the wife had the Parsnip Soup both were very good and tasty and they did not skimp on the prawns in the Cocktail. Marie Rose sauce was tasty and crisp lettuce topped off with brown triangle bread and butter.

We both went for the Christmas Dinner, Turkey was moist, and very tasty with sprouts, roast potatoes and a creamy carrot and turnip but the star was the gravy which was extremely tasty and pulled all the meal together. I am not a lover of red cabbage which was the only item left on the plate at the end... The main very good.

Dessert we both had the sticky toffee pudding which was very tasty and topped off a good classic Christmas time meal.

Service was good, and good choice of drinks. We will be back to try it again out of holiday season.

Lovely venue that carries good character in a lovely setting.

Well worth...
