A Very Special place.... Situated about 10 minutes from The Beautiful Hever Castle and Gardens in the Garden of England ( Kent) this Restaurant with Rooms is a Superb Place to Enjoy a Very relaxing Short Break...Beautifully presented Rooms and Superb Food.... I would Highly Recommend The Greyhound...near Hever... Food presentation is Very Good... All Beautifully Cooked... Delicious 😋 Breakfasts... and lots of places to visit... Thank you Caroline... 😊

A relaxed professional friendly welcome each time we visited (3 times in 4 days), loved the food and varied menu so much. Food cooked fresh and to perfection, and good portions. Especially loved the seabass and dessert special of summer pudding. On next visit to Kent will probably stay there too, if there is a vacancy. My only disappointment was that fish knives and forks were not offered when we had the sea bass.

Amazing food and great vegetarian choices ! My savoury pancake with roasted vegetables was absolutely delicious and my cheese omelette the following morning, probably the best I've ever had ! Combined with the relaxed atmosphere and excellent service, it really was a lovely experience and I just wish I lived closer. Thank you 😊

We stayed for 2 nights. Our arrival was quite late 22:45 and it was nice for the landlady to wait up for us and show us to the room. More positives. There is a great walk just behind the pub. We walked quite a bit and the views are nice. You will see horses and fields and other livestock. It’s nice not to have to get into a car for fresh air. Downstairs the pub is very cosy. It has lovely accessories and furniture. However it’s quite dark so personally I think it’s more of a winter / autumn place to feel snugly and warm (they also have real fires). Not sure if they light these. ||I am going to give a balanced review based on my experience. We stayed in room 2 and had views of the back garden. This is quite a large space shaded and tree lined. On the balcony there is a bit of weathering on the rails & the floor is just led. There is table and chairs so you can sit out. Overall the balcony is not really aesthetically pleasing. Feels a bit tired and weathered. The room is spotless especially the bathroom. Credit to housekeeping. There is no hand-shower which makes the bathing experience a bit one way. Your hair will get wet. It’s a lovely rain shower with good pressure. The toiletries are ok. Not particular a nice smell or a brand I am familiar with. It would be nice to just have refills. A move away from single use small plastic bottles which are so bad for the environment.||The room is furnished in a functional way - once more the furniture is not aesthetically pleasing. My biggest gripe is the chair under the table this is a garden chair ! Not nice to sit on. If you need to work the chair is not practical. There is a mirror that gets pulled out from the table (I also found a lip liner & a child’s drawing squirrelled away). The bed is very soft ! Definitely too soft for me (I also think that the mattress may need replacing … as you kind of roll in). The headboard is nice. Velvet it almost feels too grand for the remaining furniture / setting in the room. The carpet is definitely not deep pile (or premium) once more just functional and a bit of an odd colour. There are two tall wall mirrors. The bathroom door slides. Pillows were comfy and you have a choice. Nice duvet. Overall I slept well. The room is best when both balcony doors are open. Note that you can’t open the window as it’s just balcony doors you have. So we slept with one door open for fresh air. The room is small so airflow is needed. |I will now review everything else. To be honest the hospitality at breakfast felt a bit rushed. Pleasant/polite but not personal. To me it was a bit like - get it out ASAP. Most of the time the coffee was luke warm. I love a slow coffee in the morning. I got my last coffee with hot milk (having had about 4 luke warm once getting fed up). I genuinely did not feel comfortable to ask for anything as it just felt so quick. Basically you finished your breakfast and good riddance - go on your way! On our first day our breakfast was excellent. Hot, really nicely presented. Mine was a vegan breakfast and they added on eggs for me at my request. It was probably the nicest bnb breakfast I have had. My husband has traditional English (no mushrooms were included). It was very good. I told many people about the breakfast as we were guests at a wedding. The second breakfast was very very disappointing. It was cold, felt sloppy. Mine was over salted and I did not finish it. I dislike waste so much but this food was really unpleasant definitely not a job well done. Totally rushed. The same happened with my husband’s. Sausage was burned and burn side hidden on the plate. Tiny amount of beans - cold. The toast was burned and he was also given different types of bread. Felt like sloppy left overs! Lack of care by the chef ! Lack of quality control as we were still served to eat this ! Unacceptable. Finally the orange juice is not premium. It’s very sweet. ||To summarise - I am mindful that this part of uk is not cheap but I just felt that we DID NOT GET good value for money. Our room for 2 nights was not a bargain by any means. I would think twice before returning and only on the guarantee that the first chef was to cook the breakfast, coffee is hot & I stayed in a room where I could...

We booked three rooms for one night as part of .. visiting Hever castle of course.|The welcome, the lovely comfortable rooms, intimate dining area and the food, could not be faulted. They owners are now into a new and different business model, it is no longer a pub, and restaurant, it offers evening dining to its guests as a priority and has a small 5 seat area if you want to have a drink before your meal, and the table is yours from 6pm till whenever you are deciding enough is enough, hence no rushed dining . This allows a superb atmosphere of “dining at leisure” with time for dialogue with the highly entertaining owner/food and drink provider and with each other.|Taking food, varied choice and lovely cooking for our evening meal and breakfast, and it’s cooked “to order” , so some of us could for example have pancakes cooked and served as they wished !|The whole building was refurnished and is now a very exceptional combination of ye old worlde and new chic modern, rooms are warm, very comfortable beds and modern shower room/bathroom and of course TV and hot drinks set. Our first floor room had a most relaxing view over the garden/patio area and the countryside around.|Parking is no problem , access also to rooms etc.|Quality is excellent as is attention to detail and to customer satisfaction and … it’s not a place that has the “silly prices” for food, drink and facilities that somewhere near the MANY attractions nearby Hever etc.|All our party agreed that it was a place we would recommend to friends etc wanting accommodation in that area and would revisit in the future, it was described by one of our party who have done “ a lot of research and visits to similar establishments” as one of the best they had visited, now that is praise indeed, enough said.|The owners have worked very hard to create this and are very clear on the work/life balance of providing quality service, and have we all agreed achieved it the 5 stars we award.|You won’t be...
