I popped in to get a coffee and tea for my daughter and me while she nipped to the loo. The queue to order had about 8 people waiting but the queue to collect your order had about 30 people in it. I thought they might be waiting for food orders but after talking to someone else in the queue it looks like all of these people were waiting to only pick drink orders up. When I got to the front of the order queue there was one person taking orders, one person organising order tickets and one person making drinks. Why didn't the person taking orders and the person organising tickets stop taking orders and help by making more drinks. Ludicrous, why continue to keep taking orders when you cant produce drinks quick enough to meet demand. At various stages during the day. I walked past the pavilion and each time the collection queue was longer and longer. Insanity Is Doing the Same Thing Over and Over Again and Expecting Different Results. I didn't buy any drinks in the end as the server said it would take a long time before the drinks would be ready. This is not acceptable Guthrie Pavilion. My recommendation would be to take a flask with your own drink in, sorry but I want to see the castle not spend hours waiting...
Read moreFive of us dined before seeing the Simon & Garfunkel concert. The staff were very friendly and the service was good. That was the only plus to the meal. My tempura vegetables starter was hot but rather tasteless. My main course of minute steak and chips was dreadful. The meal was cold. The steak was so tough that I could only manage to eat half of it (a steak knife would have helped) and it was tasteless. My chips were cold and soggy, and I think they were oven chips. My wife’s chicken snitzel had an odd taste and was far too thick for a snitzel. Most of the steak and chicken that our party had went into serviettes to take home for the dog. The deserts were OK apparently but I didn’t partake. At £25 for two courses and £32 for three, even with our “friends” discount, it was overpriced. Very disappointing. We are booked in prior to another concert later in the year but may well...
Read moreHad lunch as part of an organised coach excursion. Possibly the worst piece of fish ever . Horrid Harry Ramsden style piece of fatty Coley . Oven fries and peas were ordinary. We’d had to pre book our food but two weeks before the date we were told the ‘ Head Chef ‘ had decided he couldn’t cater for the chicken offering . Instead of providing a nice summery salad as an option we were left to choose between meat pie and mash or fish and chips, neither was very suited to a July afternoon visit and couldn’t be less imaginative if he tried. Service was slow in the sweltering building because the waitresses had to serve another coach load of people their main course before we could have our deserts that weren’t much better than the mains. A very nice inviting environment but sadly let down by the Brakes...
