6 of us eating - our main (younger) waitress was great but the other one (older) was shocking! Rude, miserable and lacking any sense of speed! We waited 45 minutes for them to even ask if we were ready to order! The older waitress, when asked if we could order drinks simply replied ‘no’ in a very abrupt manner, before then realising how rude she must’ve sounded and told us only the other waitress could do a drinks order.
When we did finally get to order we were told there were a few things unavailable as they’d had a busy weekend and run out - it was Tuesday night, after Easter weekend - surely they expect to be busy this weekend and plan accordingly … no?
I’d also say the drinks (spirits) were watered down / not the right brand - although can’t say for sure of course. But I definitely felt no effect of alcohol after 4 gins!
Ordered our meals - one of us had buttermilk chicken burger with chips and the portion of chips contained 8 chips! 8!!
Lamb was ordered rare, but arrived dry, without the slightest bit of pink, totally overcooked, with wilted, overcooked tenderstem broccoli, a soggy potato thing & a dry miniature lamb pie. Clearly been left under lamps for a while before being delivered to our table. Very disappointing.
The coleslaw that came with the chicken and lamb skewers was awful, with a huge core of cabbage in one of the portions.
We were warned that the plates were hot - they weren’t at all so the meals weren’t that hot either.
Desserts were ok, but it was difficult to find out for sure which desserts contained nuts (we had 2 people in the party with nut allergies) - finally found someone with the info that the brownies may contain almonds (we didn’t risk it!)
All in all, not somewhere I’ll be rushing back to
Enjoyed the company of my friends, but I’ll be swerving the restaurant for sure
Disappointing!

Read moreWe had a table booked for 3.30pm on Sunday. we arrived on time and ordered promptly. We then sat and waited for our food for over an hour while others around us were served, tables cleared and new groups seated.
When asked about our food, servers just explained they were busy, and the kitchen was working as quickly as they could. Yet, we'd all ordered the Sunday roasts and they were still seating new customers. Also, we were a party of 5... Not like we were a large group who should have preordered.
A new party sat down in our (very loud) area (it's been a while since I had to shout at people sat in a pub on a Sunday afternoon) after we'd already been waiting an hour. Our food finally arrived, and the new party were served their mains while we were still eating ours. We finished desserts at the same time. They were a party of 7 and had arrived an hour after we had.
The meat was lovely but the veg tasted like it had been sitting out on a plate for an hour, under a heat lamp, oddly enough. The roast potatoes were like rocks. Just as hard and equally as tasteless.
We were offered no recompense for waiting so long for our food, and no further explanation. I would not recommend this place to others. While the staff we spoke to were friendly and kind, this place earr clearly not capable of managing a busy Sunday afternoon. I dread to think of the mayhem if there was some kind of event on...
Read moreDecor and garden were great. Most of the team seemed lovely but I was a bit disappointed with the brunch - it was mother's day so but.... I ordered your avocado brunch, my mum ordered your full breakfast and my little boy had yoghurt and fruit. I barely got 1/2 an avocado squashed on one slice of crappy sandwich bread with a poached egg that was hard - the beetroot hummus by the way was delicious. Mum's egg was also hard and the yoghurt and fruit turned up in dishes that were warm.
To top it off when I asked for an additional slice of toast (because I planned on sharing mine with my son but it was so small I asked for one additional slice) I was then presented with toast and jam and charged £4.50 - for more crappy sandwich bread.
As it was mother's day I didn't want to cause a fuss so they may have resolved it and my case might be an exception but I was really disappointed to pay £11 for a smearing of avo on crap toast then another £9 for more crap toast and warm yoghurt, 1 sliced up warm strawberry and a handful of warm blueberries - didn't feel like value for money and could have been so easily avoided with a decent slice of sourdough, better selection and quantity of fruit and eggs cooked for a bit less.
Saying all that I will probably go back because the decor and atmosphere was nice plus we enjoyed a lovely coffee in the sunshine in your garden - just a shame...
