The White Hart: Where Cosy Meets Classy (and the Chips Are Worth Writing Home About)
The White Hart in Sevenoaks isnât just a pub â itâs a destination. Whether youâre stopping in for a quick pint, a celebratory dinner, or because youâve heard whispers of their legendary Sunday roast, this place delivers on all fronts. Itâs like walking into your best friendâs living room â if your best friend had a flair for rustic chic and a kitchen that could win Michelin stars for its gravy.
The dĂ©cor is that perfect blend of âposh country pubâ and âplease spill nothing on these beautifully upholstered chairs.â Wooden beams, roaring fireplaces, and just the right amount of candlelight make it feel like the kind of place Jane Austen characters would meet for a pint after a long day of matchmaking.
Now, letâs talk about the menu. This isnât your standard pub grub â oh no. The food here is elevated. The fish and chips? So crispy and golden, youâll be tempted to write them a sonnet. The burgers? Juicy enough to make you question every sad barbecue youâve ever attended. And donât even get me started on the sticky toffee pudding â itâs so good it probably comes with its own fan club.
Drinks-wise, theyâve got you covered. Fancy a craft beer? Sorted. Want a glass of wine so smooth youâll feel like youâre in Tuscany? Theyâve got that too. And the bar staff? Legends. Theyâll chat with you like old mates while expertly pouring your drink, making you feel like a VIP in your own local.
The outdoor seating is another win. On a sunny day, the garden is a little slice of Kentish heaven. Dogs are welcome, kids are welcome, and if you happen to be wearing wellies after a countryside ramble, no one will bat an eye. Itâs the kind of place where everyone fits in â even the deer from Knole Park would feel at home.
The White Hart is everything you want a pub to be: warm, welcoming, and with food so good youâll consider moving in. Five stars â and an extra one for the chips....
Read moreLovely pub, friendly staff, and tasty grub, especially as you can earn your food by doing the popular red/black/blue circular walking routes around the nearby Knole Park (also with a look around the lovely National Trust house if you are members) surrounded by beautiful grounds and free roaming Deer. We really love these sorts of pubs that you can build your walks and days out at National Trust buildings, as we like to support out National treasures and also the local businesses and pubs too.
The food was fantastic as were the puddings, so we will come back again and again. My wife is still cautious about eating indoors, so they have a fantastic setup for outdoors eating with a waterproof cover and heaters above which have control for the customers to turn on or off according to preference. Staff were friendly and seemed very happy with working there and made you feel they enjoyed chatting to clients without pressure which I really like to see. We took some friends who had never been to that part of the world and they were very impressed considering they usually don't do pub grub. They also gave out some loyalty vouchers to collect for payment towards a future meal there.
Car park can get busy, so drive past that and there are some free parking streets nearby with a hundred metres.
Very classy place, so get your rambling boots on and do the walk before you BULK up...
Read moreThis is the BEST pub I have been to in 40 years!
Went the day after Boxing Day this year, with my elderly parents my sister, her three kids, her husband, his elderly mother and two dogs. From the moment you walk in you are greeted warmly and automatically feel welcomed and I donât mean this faux American bu//sh*t that we seem to have turned into (nothing against America but we are British). I was having a grumpy day and so was on the verge of being prickly. But the way the staff were so accommodating and made everything seem no trouble at all actually made me chill out. It was weird. I think I am so used to there being some type of confrontation or having to put up with the attitude that they are doing you are favour with everything in this country that this place literally transported me back to how it was back when I was growing up. Even the other customers were really nice. When you walk in a room with two dogs you donât always expect smiles and conversations!
I havenât even mentioned how good the food is or the size of the portions, how they are good with kids etc.etc. And the girls serving us were not much older than 18. I could literally go on and on.
Just go! Thatâs unless I hadnât been transported to another time and place that day because I have not had that level of hospitality in a long time. Best pub in Britain for me and Iâm from...
