Very disappointed. Was expecting a lot better after reading the reviews and recommended by friends who live near and frequent the Nags head. After a 5 mile hike yesterday around the strines and dike dale reservoirs we decided to call in and try it out around 5pm ish. I ordered large steak and ale pie with chips. When it arrived l was some what disappointed with the chips. There wasn't many and the ones l had were hard and vèry crunchy. Wished l'd taken a photo now as they were no where near like the ones in other photos in these reviews. Decided not to complain as the two yoing ladies serving at the time were rushed of their feet. Also wasn't happy about having to queue outside, in accordance with the Covid guidelines, yet the local regulars sat inside were able to shout out their orders to the bar staff, jumping the queue. Nice pub and steak pie, but definitely a pub if you're not a regular you don't fit in. Bradfield ale...

Today was my first experience at the Nags head. I came to experience the atmosphere and see what it was like. I was so upset when a man who looked like he worked there told me I needed to move my car because I couldn’t park in that spot. It’s my first time coming and I had no idea I couldn’t park there because there were lots of other cars on the road too. When I moved the car behind my friends cars (4 others) he came over again and gave me a lecture on where it should be parked even though my male friends had parked exactly where I was, but no lecture was given to them. I felt very belittled and patronised when it was a genuine mistake. There was also no parking available in the car park. So disappointed because I don’t feel comfortable coming back now, I appreciate the concern of a fine but it was just said in a very patronising and unkind tone- my friends agreed. Won’t be...

Our local and we are glad it is! We would come every week if we could and occasionally we do. Good value for money food and beer! Think a pie & pint has just increased to £12. Good homely heart pie, loads of gravy, peas and chips! Topped with a bradfield brewery beer which are all lovely! My personal favourite is steak and Stilton but I’ve had them all multiple times! Cajun chips are also very good for when you fancy just a beer and bowl while out walking or just a quick one!

Very local pub, normally see the same people and it’s very friendly. The more dogs the merrier also 😃

Only thing I think would be good… to stock Our Cow Molly ice cream as you can basically see their farm and it would be a good local combo! Plus would save me walking...

Fantastic friendly service in this pub. Run by Bradfield Brewery with a large range of their beers on offer. We were recommended to visit by the people at the brewery as it was Friday pie day. And, as the weather was horrendous, the thought of a pie for lunch was irresistible. There were a choice of 4 pies, all served with chips and mushy peas, or potatoes and veg. Available in two sizes small for £6.50, large for £8.50. Each coming with any pint of their beers. Amazing food, delicious and home cooked. Small, being plenty. Would highly recommend.

Was walking close by so decided to visit here unannounced on Sunday lunchtime. Decided on the steak and ale pie and pint for £8.50. 3 Pies to choose from and also a choise of chips and mushys or mash and veg. Can't go wrong! Super yummy and warming, steak pieces large and tender. Only negative the plate was swamped with gravy, not everybody's cup of tea, maybe better in a jug? Also cider not included in the offer but a handful of ales to choose from. I enjoyed the Farmers blonde. Cute and cosey, friendly locals and very good value for money.

Bradfield Brewery beer is fantastic and the pie, chips and peas devine. Finish off with some treacle sponge and custard for the perfect meal out. There's also a snooker table and oodles of outdoor seating, much of it under cover with space heaters. I should also mention the excellent service. Great pub!!! Update Nov 2023 Another fantastic meal, and still very good value. Very accommodating of our dog who joined us this time! There was quite a wait in-between courses, but we weren't in a rush so a very enjoyable lunch.
