The Sportsman — Restaurant in Sheffield

This is a prime example of the older generation trying to intimidate a young person. So, I was at Sportsman close to Crosspool Tavern for my sister's and niece's birthday. I went to order my food: BBQ wings, a burger, and Belgian waffles. I asked a woman who served me for a BBQ dip, and she said I could ask for it when they brought the food. I was okay with that. The lady explained that she was new and asked if I wanted fruit or a brownie with my waffles. I said brownie. Then, a man brought out my food, but I realized the BBQ dip was missing. I asked another male staff member, and he said it's 99p. I was okay with that, but he brought and was abit funny with me. I thought it was weird, but I ignored it. I also asked for my dessert to go. This man took my receipt and I told him I asked for the waffles and came back with a brownie and what looked like a small whipped cream in a box. I wanted to exchange it, but when the man at the till saw me coming, he turned around. Then, the lady who served me took my food and my dessert into the kitchen area to get exchanged . The man who was weird about the BBQ sauce came out and shouted at me, asking what I wanted. I told him I ordered waffles. He said, 'Well, everything is plated up.' I tried to explain that it wasn't my order and thats no my problem. but he kept repeating that everything was plated up, trying to force me to have an order I didn't even order. Finally, he said he'll go and tell the person who plated it up. Then, the lady who originally served me mentioned that he was having a bad day once again i said this is not my problem. After that, a big woman came out and started screaming at me, asking what I wanted. She shouted aggressively in my face, and I told her I ordered the waffles. The grown man was there, but he didn't say anything. Feeling threatened, I burst into tears, and everyone in the restaurant started laughing at me. My dad went to complain, but they lied to him, saying that I started shouting at them(anything to cover their backs), when in reality, I just asked for the waffles I even asked for them with nothing on to make it easier for them . It's really disgusting and awful that we still live in an age where people make stuff up about people and Intimidate people.

Also, when the staff came to our table to clear the plates they lied about the situation.

I also say people are dramatic about complaining about customer service but this is worst experience I have ever had in my life, this place deserves to be on Sheffield star due to bad customer service. I don't understand if you clearly don't like your job leave. I have read the reviews on google and trustpillot and there is similarities in peoples reviews such as the customer service. You give have ruined my weekend and my family's birthday.

Visited a while ago with family and really enjoyed it and they couldn't do enough for my partner who was pregnant and suddenly disliked most foods, so sense would have it, we would return, what a mistake. It took over 20 mins for a simple starter (When there was barely anyone else in) which I asked to be brought out with the main (It wasn't) so our 6 year old daughter had to sit and watch my partner eat (Would have shared, but it wasn't something she likes), then we waited for a table check where they would have realised the starter had cleared, it never came after 25mins so I got up and let them know, 40 mins later nothing? I again got up and asked and was told they were plating up, they then brought the my main out (Being a chef myself and a parent, I've always found it courteous to send the childs first as they are least patient), the plates were chucked on the table and the manager stormed off quickly before asking if there was anything else, which there was, and then again, no table check to see if everything was ok. Bit of a nightmare, they cannot handle a full pub. Lunch with 2 small children. Arrived at 13.30 ordered via the app 13.40. 14.20 no drinks had arrived asked a member of staff was told they would bring them. 14.35 went to the bar and got my drinks as we were quite thirsty after waiting an hour. Kids at this point had, had enough and were hungry. We were told ours was just been plated. 15.05 food arrived. 1hour 25 after ordering. The food was awful, inedible. The vegetables weren't cooked, the roast veg tasted like vinegar, frozen Roasties tasted weird as oil was obviously over used. The meat, yorkie and cauliflower cheese were the only thing edible. Then had to ask for dessert after waiting 25 minutes for someone to pass. 2.5 hours later we finally left! With kids who barely ate anything and climbing the walls. £30.46 Were were refunded £9.50.
