We chose to stay at Ye Old Mustard Pot as it provided dog friendly accommodation not too far from home for a mini getaway. This was our wedding anniversary and it was frankly ruined by the service provided. The pub itself is lovely and the location in the peaks is very nice being close to a reservoir. After a lovely long walk, we checked in around 4 pm and headed up to our room for a snooze. The first sign of trouble was how ridiculously tiny the room was for two people and two dogs. It was so small that there was only space for a bedside table on one side of the bed, with the door directly on the other side of the bed.

The drawer front to the bedside table was missing and so was the remote for the TV. The lovely countryside views also included in the description of the room we booked was a view of the car park. We were really really disappointed by the service though. We paid for a room that included dinner, and when we came down for dinner at 8 pm we were told they had stopped serving food! This was a Saturday night! They clearly expected us to go somewhere else until we said that we had paid for dinner with our room, at which point they said if we ordered in the next five minutes we could have a main course. This is not hospitality! The one course we did have was lovely, but on asking whether we could have dessert, we were told no because the kitchen had already been cleaned! By this time it was only 8:45 pm. What a joke! Okay, we thought, we’ll get a drink and take it outside to the lovely garden to enjoy the rest of our evening. At precisely 9:26 pm, the waitress came outside to call last orders. What kind of an establishment is this? We were in bed by 10 pm! This pub is ran by people who clearly do not understand what hospitality means.

They should just stick to being a pub if that’s how they want to treat people who are paying good money to spend the night. At no point during check-in will be told that they were going to stop serving food at 7:45 pm and to call last orders before 9:30 pm on a Saturday night is ridiculous, whether you’re in the...

I stayed for 2 nights. As an American tourist I met some of the nicest people I had ever met in my life!

The food was absolutely fantastic - who would have thought Green Chicken Curry in the English countryside would be so delicious!? The Haloumi Fries were mind blowing ly delicious, served with a kind of sweet chili sauce. I spent lots of time in the bar area including staying until midnight on a Saturday night drinking pint after pint and buying rounds with some locals. They were extraordinarily kind, and even offered me rides to my destinations the next few days!

Every single one of the ladies behind the bar was professional and kind.

I do not have any pets, and in fact I am mildly allergic to pet dander, so I knew sleeping in a place that allowed dogs could be problematic. I had antihistamine pills with me in case I got itchy eyes, hives, or any other issues. Surprisingly I never needed them in my two days there!

My only negative, if you can really call it that, was that I noticed a crack in the toilet bowl in my room, which also would cause occasional water leaks (clean water) on the floor around the toilet. But I had no real impact on me, just figured it was something that could be fixed, especially considering it looked like the flooring in the bathroom had been replaced relatively recently.

My only recommendation would be one or two slightly more modern amenities, like some sort of device charger with USB ports on it that would make it easier to plug in international devices and charge them up.

Great food, great people, great drinks, great rooms... If you're expecting some kind of posh people acting like an English stereotype you're not going to get it. This isn't dinner and a show. I was an American looking for authentic experience in a rural English town and I 100% got it. Humanity...

I was due to stay here on Friday 19th of July with my daughter, unfortunately we were unable to due to her getting Covid. So i gifted my other daughter and her boyfriend a night away. I am, as are they, absolutely disgusted in the service that they received during their stay at Ye Olde Mustard Pot. It was evident that the room had not been cleaned, their was dust on the widow sill, urine on the toilet seat, empty toiletry tubes in the bottom of the shower and dirt on the radiator and floor. The maintenance of the room wasn't much better with a broken light and paint peeling from the ceiling. They did speak to a member of staff that was quite abrupt and they did get their room change but, it is about first impressions and the massive inconvenience. Which is not good enough for a hotel, let alone one that charges £85 per night. It is just not acceptable.

That is not the worse part, when they went down to breakfast they were approach by a female member of staff. Who said the following: "you ready for breakfast? Sounded like you need some energy and the bed is very squeaky isn't it? I didn't know what was going on when I first heard it. This place may as well be a brothel."

Absolutely disgusting, even a male member of staff was shocked that she had spoken to them like it and her response to him was "it is ok, they are young"

No-one goes away to a hotel to be treated be treated in this manner, very little regard for the inconvenience and embarrassment.

Just a final word. I have stayed in 1000's of hotels all around the world and I have never had an experience like this (from cleanliness and staff behaviors and I think they seriously need to do something about it.

After reaching out to this company, there was no acknowledgement of unprofessional behaviour and not even an...

12 of us arrived 1:30pm on wednesday after a short walk at Langsett reservoir. the place was almost empty. the disdes we ordered were delicious and in generous portion. plentY of steak in steak and ale pie. the mega mixed grill was good if you are hungry. the fish finger sandwich was good, served three large pieses of fish. the rump of lamb was tender and delicious. risotto was good but a salty. we arrived 3pm after a walk on Monday 10th August 2020 (to take up the government scheme) the restaurant was almost full, we sit outside. we ordered our meals but took a long time to arrive. order a dessert bakewell tart with custard, but nothing like bakewell tart. at the end we paid much less due the government scheme and happy with the taste of meals after a hiking, arrived the pub 2:30pm. it is a large premises, divided in dog welcome and paw free sections. food still sreves after 2:30pm. there is a specical menu that we missed. meals are delicious and plenty of crispy chips. A tea/coffee and cake costs £4.50 but it is not home made cake. it has free wifi.

I stayed here for two nights (Aug 24) and found the place to be really nice, location, accommodation, food and all the staff. If you're unfamiliar with the area then this is a great base to set off from and then to recharge your batteries in the evenings. I parked my car in the 'massive' carpark on the Friday afternoon and didn't need it until leaving on the Sunday, so many small walks to do for first thing and in the evenings and footpaths linking up if you opt for a day out walking. My room did need some improvements but was clean, tidy and nicely quiet. The beverage tray and bathroom smellies, you'll very rarely see these as good in most hotels these days - cookies and hot choc, chocs on the bed, shampoo and body wash, very nice touch indeed. Breakfast is in with the room cost and you'll be very pleased to sit down to it I'm sure, I opted for eggs on toast on both mornings but will be having the full English when I next visit towards the winter months, and I'm very much looking forward to that stay. Thanks to you all at Ye Olde Mustard Pot.
