Went in on a Sunday evening with some trepidation after reading mixed reviews. However was pleasantly surprised. Food was tasty and good. Two pizzas (margherita and quatre stagioni) and a chicken Sunday roast dinner. Pizza bases were good, cooked but not burned and a good thickness. Toppings were tasty as was sauce and cheese (though could have gone a little closer to edge). Recepient of roast chicken said it was good, with nicely some meat. A good selection of veg (carrot, beans, broccoli), standard size yorkshire pud, roast tatties and gravy. Non alcholic all round, but Thatchers 0% was a highlight. Homemade chilli oil on the tables was a nice touch and very tasty. (be warned it packs a punch, then again I'm a lightweight). Pub garden looks nice worth fairy lights. I'd go again. Points fot improvement: kids menu. Ladies toilet needs a better lock (too high for children or shorter people, see pics) that can be opened from outside in an emergency. Better /more hygienic hand drying options needed. Would be nice to have coke zero (bottled or on tap) and some no alcohol spirits. Gravy in a boat (as some of us are fussy where it goes). And finally MORE STAFF, the poor barman was run off his feet taking food orders, serving meals, doing drinks, bussing tables and taking payments. He deserves a pay rise!

I had the Pollo AI Porcini which was tasty (a touch salty) but was let down on presentation, the mushrooms looked more like button mushrooms than porcini to me, and the beans hadn't all had their stalks removed. Of the two waiters, the younger one was friendly and helpful but lacked training, the other seemed rather grumpy and curt. Neither made a check-back during the meal. Perhaps overworked\under staffed. Only two of the desserts were available, which was a pity, so I can't comment on that.

The food was good, the pasta was slightly heavy but really tasty. The calamari was not very crispy. The service was slow but understandable as only the chef at the back and the person at the front were the only staff. There is definitely room for improvement but the place it’s heading to the right direction. If you beleive this review has been helpful for you, please don’t forget to press the 👍 button. Thank you.

Really a mess of a place. The booking was forgotten (done over the phone), the decor leaves a lot to be desired (sellotaped windows, events signage thats months out of date, ancient dirty and dishevelled furniture), all interractions with staff had to be chased, menus are food stained and many of the items were unavailable, and the one meal was even forgotten.

Our table had a mix of sunday roasts and pizzas, and noone finished their dishes due to the horrible flavour. Gravy was swimming with oil, veg was old and tired, pizza lacking cheese and the food generally tasted bad. Even the pints were flat. We saw lots of other patrons leaving unfished meals and having to chase staff to take orders fetch the bills etc, so it seems we had an average experience of the place. At least it was inexpensive.

Don't be fooled by the lovely exterior, the inside is old, worn, and the food and drink are not nice at all. I had been here many years ago and had a similarly bad experience. It appears that even with the alleged management change things have gotten no better (maybe even worse)

There was even a large pile of burnt material in the car park 😅.

Stay well clear. There are plenty of much nicer places in the...

First visit friday evening in October 2017, overall impression nice quaint pub with slow staff and poorly trained. Food hit and miss for the price. Dissapointing, from some of these reviews i expected more. We were in a hurry and told the staff who took the order, we were told it wouldnt be an issue. When we saw people who arrived after us served their food we had to ask again, food eventually arrived giving us 10 minutes to eat it. Really slow service. Staff mixed up the order then even the cutlery showing lack of attention. My wifes lamb was nice she said but lacked in Jus. My duck was overcooked and tasted like they had cooked it in a microwave, puffed up chewey meat. Had to sharpen my teeth to get through it. When I spoke to the landlady when paying I was shrugged off in an obtuce manner saying, "well what do you expect we are busy" a rubber stamp of doom for me...
