In the last 12 months we have eaten here around 5 or 6 times, the food is fantastic ,the chicken satay skewers are the best i and indeed my friends have ever eaten (I would go just for these alone!!) The rest of the menu is excellent, a good choice and great value for money, the steaks are worth a visit alone! I normally do not have a desert as the starter and main will always fill me up but on out last visit I also had a eaton mess for desert and was not disappointed, as I said the quality of the food shows to me good quality produce and obviously very well trained and educated chefs. Great service in a really well kept and presented establishment, attentive but not over bearing staff are happy to help and assist. And just to add we recently had a Sunday roast there and it was absolutely fantastic too. I can highly recommend a visit to this place and don't think you would be disappointed to do so. I can honestly say there are no negatives to me about this place at all and cannot praise these hard working guys enough, i am certainly now looking forward to our next visit as there are many more things on the menu I simply must try!!. So there you have it! In a nutshell this is a must visit restaurant and one I will definitely making a regular destination for a good meal. Thanks guys and...

Four of us recently visited for an evening meal with friends before Christmas. As the small cosy dining area was busy we were shown through to a dining room at the back...past the loos and kitchen. We'd booked a table for 7.30pm and were the only people in the back room for the first half hour or so, but then only one other table was later occupied with another 6 or 7 empty. It was cold (tiled floor), the fire wasn't lit. It felt like we'd been 'stuck out back' as an after thought. The room was overly bright and echoey, not comfortable at all. In terms of the food mine was ok but my partner didn't enjoy anything he had and he's not a fussy eater. The waiter was ok but quiet. I'm not sure his English was expansive. He was accompanied by a young lad, who it seemed might have been training. He half balanced a tray of coffees half on the table before stepping back. I quickly grabbed it to stop it falling off. He just took the tray after I removed the cups and milk jugs, but then did the same with a second tray and never said a word and the proper waiter wasn't paying attention. It really wasn't the best of evenings but we had booked after seeing other good reviews. We felt uncomfortable from the start but had to make the best of it for our two guests. We won't...

Pleasant food and the staff are really trying hard. So hard in fact it made everything feel a little stressful.

The Food: Our chips were undercooked, may have been a one off but they were. The steak was nice. They swapped out a“Champignon” closed cup mushrooms with button mushrooms.

service: great and attentive if a little stressful at times as some staff were being trained and it was clear they were all eager to give the best service possible. The food took ages to come out. We were sat down at the table for over two hours for two courses of food. I am sure this is a one off but it wasn’t good enough.

price: about £25 quid more expensive than The Chequers in Fowlmere for what was the same meal I had a week or so before. I had a steak and chips at both with truffle chips replacing the usual chips. We had half a beer and a small wine at the hole in the wall and I had 3 beers and two a large glass at the Chequers. The food and service was better too unfortunately.

Although there were issues it was still a great lunch. I Didn’t want to complain in person as the staff were all trying so hard and I didn’t want money off the bill. I will be emailing in though so that the...

We arrived at The Hole in The Wall with some trepidation, never knowing if the reviews of a Gastropub really are real. Well, we have been converted. All the staff were warm and welcoming and the the food was exactly as described - high class pub food with great taste, delightfully served and imagination. Juile started with the Whitebait with Sriracha mayonnaise, well fried Whitebait with the sauce being just the right level of spiciness. I had the chickpea fritters with mango chutney. The fritters were moist, an excellent bed of a variety of lettuces, rocket and the homemade mango chutney were great. For the main course, Julie had the chicken burger. Wow, the chicken was so tender and the barbecue sauce excellent. I had the Rajasthani Lamb Curry which head a wonderful depth of flavour along with great spices, and the lamb melted in your mouth. The chef came to speak with us afterwards and it was great to hear about his training, and inspirations for creating what are really good top level pub food. Thank you, we will come back again.

We had been meaning to try The Hole in The Wall for a long time as heard good things about it. We then wanted a roast on Sunday so tried to see if there was availabilty and they managed to squeeze us in which was appreciated. We turned up to find a warm and friendly waiter at the door. He showed us to our table and was very pleasant, we quickly chose on some starters and mains (pushing the boat out knowing we would almost definitely have puddings). The starter arrived and all I can say is wow, was very tasty and presented in a very elegant way. Then the mains arrived and I decided on the three meat roast, well let’s just say the meat sweats started but managed to eat it all and was amazing, gravy was definitely up there with some of the best. We then managed to squeeze in a pudding which finished off the meal perfectly. Our daughter even got her name written on her plate which was a lovely touch. Couldn’t fault the service by Carrick and the chef Ulhas cooked up a feast. 5 starts from us! We will be sure to be back very soon!

Best Sunday roast in all of Cambridge and surrounding areas, trust me I’ve had many roasts in the area and this is by far the best. Food was delicious, perfectly cooked meats and all the trimmings were superb. Service was exceptional (as always) Sid the manager did an amazing job of always looking after us. Special mention to the chefs too who work hard to produce high quality food. Ruben, Tryfun and Mr Rodrigues are always on top of their game and The Hole in The Wall are very lucky to have such an amazing team! 10/10 recommend… I will be back 😁
